Post by: Rain on August 01, 2011, 04:25:35 pm
Hi everyone.I made a pure thief char, (lockpick, steal, sneak) for a purpose of managing everydays problems like keys in trunks and shortage of rockets. Is anyone willing to explain how to make him get some exp..(concrete example please)..i m totally new to this kind of char, and beside my faction policy do not allow me to steal other players..

Any suggestion people..?I m waiting for some great tips, and thanks in anticipation.

Get unarmed skill for free XPing, then just punch molerats' eyes. You don't need high skill.
Or get SG skill and shoot molerats' eyes with something long ranged if you have >2 PE, you don't need high skill anyway, because you can shoot from 1 hex.
Or throwing skill for infinite throwing knives.

Make a 9mm mauser. Wont take too much materials, is cheap, and if gets lost or broken none will notice. Ammos are easy to craft, gun too, and has a good range and the Accurate perk, making it better than the 10mm for those situations.

So i must assume a pure thief has no possibilities to improve without combat abilities..?

I dont know if stealing gives also some experience, i never played i thief not even in Fallout, however having atleast some small guns skills assures that you can survive if you cannot sneak.
I'm not telling that a "pure" thief is impossible. Just that is actually too hard to be done without proper experience with that kind of game.

here someone thing i learned from reese (yea i know wtf reese knows stuff) under nerco is the vault go down there with some caps steal ghouls. place 1 cap on them then take back and repeat till caught 10 xp each sucess time. when you get caught live that area and go to diffrent one repeat and change back and forth from one area to another easy way to lvl kinda. for theif.
