I sometimes find the need, to leave a message for someone, to find later.
(Friends at bases/tradepartners/tentsharers or even alts ect.)
As it is now, that is impossible to do.
Suggestion is simple:
Make holo-disks recordable via the PIPboy. Read them the same way, as they are read now. Maybe a way to delete old messages on them too (formatting them).

Really great idea!
If got another one, very similar: make news billboard in every town, where players can leave message each other. when u use that item, it show you message adressed to your IGN, or whole your faction IGNs.
Sometimes we met new people, and have no contact with them later (youre helping exp somebody, and when he dies you cant contact him/her), this would help to build new contacts in fonline world, and increase RP :)

This was done long time ago already. Just use science on the holotape and the text editor will appear. I've seen only couple of people actually used this feature and it could be really funny to read something like that.
Concerning billboards, I doubt that it will be ever available to the players, as it would be vandalized by every next person (just like it happened to wiki, when it was available to edit by anyone) and thus it's pretty much senseless. On the other hand, we already have billboards in almost every town, which contain some basic info about quests available in the town and such, but they are available to edit by dev team only.

Im guessing it isnt used, cause its not commonly known.

you dont get it, maybe i should explain it better. When you use that billboard, you can check if someone left message to you. not every message. So if there was couple messages left, but none of these was adressed to you, u simply cannot read them.
example message: "/Sheisse: Hello friend, ill play tomorrow night, meet me here at 21 oclock"
And when Sheisse check the billboard he will see that message. When tRaidert will check the billboard he will see shit, or some unkind messages :], but not that adressed to Sheisse.

I have used the Holodisks for messages quite often - a way to delete old messages from the pipboy would be very useful.

At first, I wanted to respond with something like "learn to use wiki," but then I noticed that there's something in the suggestion that actually makes sense.
I'm talking, of course, about formatting holodisks. It's a really strenuous task at the moment, especially if the message they contain is long. There should be a button allowing you to instantly erase the contents of your tape.

It is. :)

I didn't know

not a lot of people knew, i found out the hard way by finding a tape and i tried to "Break" it down and boom that stuff pops up and bam left a message... i still have no idea where i put that tape though.

I recently tried using science on an "empty tape" and it simply wouldnt pull up the text editor thingy... odd.

concluzion: sugestion implemented be4 sugesting, now let's move it to closed

If I was to add something to my initial suggestion it would be:
- Repair should format the disk
- There should be an option to remove the loaded text in ones PIPboy again

How about you would need to pay a fee for writing a billboard? May be through NPC like advertising? Or the need to use some tool to write it down?
