I have used the search option, and found nothing about this idea.
I'm thinking of making the worldmap a place that shows a bit more detail about the world surrounding you. Let me explain.
My idea is to put some more information besides the standard wm grid info: coords and zone. This info would be:
- the type of terrain the zone lies on (mountains, city, plateau, dunes, plains, desert, sea shore)
- travelling speed penalties you will suffer when travelling on that terrain (different values for different circumstances: character's outdoorsman skill, pathfinder perk, the type of car you drive)
[Example]

Mountains: -50%
City: -40%
Dunes: -30%
Desert: -15%
Plateau: -10%
Seashore: -10%
Plains: no penalty
[/Example]
This would help to reach your destination by choosing your way more wisely.

Already implemented?

I know there is a penalty system already, but it doesn't show u this on wm, and that's the idea.
-
I thought you were quicker in a city...
-
Hmm.. this could work, but sounds bit unrealistic.
It's better we got wikipage that explain more about travelling speed at WM.
-
This is already implemented. NEXT!
(You can already tell what kind of square terrain it is because of what it looks)

Not really, border of desert seems like speed squares where it's slow squares, and some hills look likes mountains while it's one of the fastest terrain.

I like it, more info = better.

There is no need to display any further information. It's a game with abstractions, not an interactive spreadsheet.

True, though I can think of additional info as aid in finding bugs. So that everyone could see that given zone may have improperly set properties...

As long as it is not in the "final" game, then I'm all in. 8)

Agree. For example, all desert case near the mountains are very slow, it should be fast.
