I was thinking about this.... What if you added items to the caravan leader worth trading... :o
Im thinking the basic stuff... leather armors... pistols... 10mm smg... some drugs...
It would make the game funner to be looking for caravans to trade with ;]
Caravans are COMPLETELY worthless unless it comes to killing them.
Something as... if you kill the caravan leader, he does not have the loot, only the guards have what weapons/ammo they have
;)
MERCHANT CANNOT BE LOOTED! >:( >:( >:( >:(
-
I think it would be nice if caravan encs had a Caravan Cart on them. The leader has the key on him/her, and the trading items are in the cart.
Imo it doesn't make much sense if the goods are carried by the guards, they are just hired guns.

As i said, they only have the weapons and ammo they use

You're right, sorry I misread.

UNABLE TO LOOT MERCHANT
-
Already been suggested, but yes, great idea.
They should have less items on them than regular merchants, so that people still have needs to go into towns.
-
I'd like this idea, since it would give a purpose to caravans.
BUT im not for the un-lootable caravan leader.

Random giberish ahead

Just an idea, but maybe you could trade with them via dialog?
Like the trappers around Redding, that sell gecko hides.
They could have 1-4 different items for sale, hunting rifles, brahmin hides, water bags... ect
And since they do alot of trading, perhaps at rare times they might have something
of value. (Laser rifles, Sniper rifles, M60's ect)
Or something of rarety (LE BB Gun, EMP nades perhaps?)
Although stock would depend on which caravans...
Redding may have Gold nuggets, New Reno would have Jet, or other drugs.
Once you buy an item from them, they will no longer have it. Certain items may be more than 1 in stock, and weapons/armor would come with random det % and break count. And overpriced :)
Just a thought.

We cant have rare items with them AT ALL, they will be farmed 24/7 if they are lootable, i say only tradeable ;]

Like i said, using dialog. So even if you kill them, you can't obtain them.
Rare items would be RARE anyways.

that would take awhile >.<

this suggestion is a must be... i really hate it when leader has no loot except .45 caliber bullets which she use for her grease gun.
-
As long as the stuff she is able to trade is unable to loot (only takes 1 flag to set on NPC stats though) it is ok.
-
I think there should be a "Little" bit of good stuff to steal, but it would require either 150% steal or 150% Lockpick. Promotes alts? yeah, farming alts, builds with combat AND lockpick skill. It would also make playing with other players a good reason.
-
I think its good to have a trader with some small % chance to find a trader with a rare stuff or cheaper than town normal items. Price shouldnt be too low. That way you risk getting killed while trading with merchant and going through wastes with valuable stuff, but at the same time if youre successful you can trade goodies :D
-
i had made a sugestion t omake merchants in encounters to have some stuff, so you can do like in F2: have a containter that has all tradeble items in ir and players will trade with themselfs indirectly
-
A hidden container could work there and to solve the problem why can't I get the stuff after I killed the merchant how about giving them a caravan cart as a scenery that has the use icon and when clicked on the following massage appears "All the goods are on the caravan sadly with killing the merchant you no longer can find a way to open it and due to the weight of it you can't take it with you".
