The aim of this poll is to find out what amount of RAM a typicall FO player has.
The information will be useful to determine the maximum size of new locations and other stuff too.
The sample is big enough, i don't suppose it will change significantly. Poll is closed.
Thank you for your answers :)

Voted, I have 2GB RAM.
I would like to thank you for this thread, it's indeed very interesting.

I have to agree, it should be moved to "Off-topic discussions" section.
I still like the thread and still think it's very interesting.

Did any of you bother to read the first post?

Yes we read first post, but do you think that it will help gms?Little bit but they dont want to change size of maps lol.

Well Fallout Online is still being developed by developers not by gms. GM is a shortcut for Game Master -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamemaster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamemaster) The other thing is that there is such a tool as "mapper". If you had missed this here's a thread >> http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=9537.0 You can download mapper from there and create your own map. By create i mean make entirely new one. It has nothing to do with changing the ones that exist. lol

Lol you dont need to explain to me what is GM and Dev.This just have nothing to do with 2238 server.Like you told"create new one" but devs will create maps for themselves. If they will need help with creating then they will contact...
-
(...)but devs will create maps for themselves.
Well the idea of creating a map is not in making it for a few people but for the FOnline community.
If you make a good map it is very likely that it gonna be implemented in game.
If they will need help with creating then they will contact...
Do you realize that devs and gms don't get paid for their work for FOnline? I am sure anyone who may add something useful to this game is welcome.

I understand just you could post it to Game Help section or Offtopic...

I have 1,5 GB - Some places still get huge fps drops.
My brother has 512mb and he can't enter NCR - he gets constant 5-20 fps. This also acquires to some other populated cities, so he left FOnline.
FOnline engine is optimized, eh?

I feel sorry for your brother...
He should upgrade his system in my option.

Naah, it's okay. He plays games very rarely and if anything then the good old classics - Doom, Warcraft 1/2, GTA Vice City and some other great old titles.

That's a lovely selection of games I must say! ;D
However, he should get GTA San andreas instead of Vice city, in my option.
It's good to hear that he isen't that disappointed about his system. :)

@Moderators, I am sorry that I double posted, there was another post before mine and I thought I would be able to post before that one.
So now it looks like I double posted, but infact it was a silly mistake that I won't do again. Next time I will look at the new reply first.

I doubt the memory is the reason. Most likely it's connection speed/latency. You can check your latency by pressing F1 in game and reading PING line. The internet speed you can check for example here www.numion.com. The other reason less likely but still possible may be the slow processor.

Nah, he's video card is too lame ;D
Ok, enough of off-topic.
So... if the average RAM of community computers will be high enough you will make a huge ass map for competitions or something?
-
480 MB on Windows XP because 32 MB is going to graphic chipset :(
-
3 GB with 2 years old laptop :)
-
You need atleast 128gb RAM to run Windows 10 smoothly.
-
2Gs

256mb...only for my windows XP old machine. i never had any problem, i use that old PC for play Fonline, Halo1, Spyro, Rayman, Crash. Im at 40-45fps even in events.
Since its impossible to me run Fonline in Vista, i hope you never need more than 256mb for properly run the game ;D.

Just does... I'm not a supercomputer tech-boy either. Hell I had to get full-on hand-held tutorial to get this game installed.

And I remember who it was who went with you through that. 8)
Anyway, I accidently clicked 1 GB, while I only have 512mb. It mostly runs smooth, but I avoid crowded cities (FPS dropdown)
-
4gb, but i remember the times when i had only 256 mb. I usualy died before encounter loaded...
-
Dont think that its uselful information for person which started this topic but i have one thousand mb (just only 1GB) hehe

The fps dropdown in crowded places is most likely caused by internet connection quality (speed/latency). Amount of RAM doesn't matter much in this case.

Well if you have X ram and you try to enter the map that requires X+1 ram the client most likely crash. That's quite a concern.
-
2GB on XP system (4 years old? Not going to upgrade for at least 2 years, and then maybe just some more RAM. Except it won't be properly addressed, probably. Ehhh.)
I remember playing Fallout 2 with 16 MB.
Vault 13 was soooo slooowwwww.
-
Is it over kill that I have 12GB DDR3 2000 and two HD 5870 2GBs?

It's overkill that the one time you post is to stroke the epeen ::)

Bad luck, im also receive a tutorial like a little boy, i think i do something wrong because sometimes the game freezes in the first art screen, its not such a great problem, i just press Esc then the game screen shows. but the one of SDK, not the 2238 with ras interface screen, i put my name and password and play.......2GB on XP system (4 years old? Not going to upgrade for at least 2 years, and then maybe just some more RAM. Except it won't be properly addressed, probably. Ehhh.)

my one has 6 years old.....never actualized or upgraded. with an 1 years ago expired version of Nod32, its very embarrasing against the Landrik's PC.
This treath has no sense, game is not about best computer like all the new games, is about players fighting, no matter in what PC, (but the game is 50% "luck")
