actually i got a question that is not answered there ...
1) does magnetic personality enable you to have an extra slave ?

2) and what about when you have 1 ch and magnetic ? - you can have then 1 slave on ?

3) and finally i wonder if its possible to cheat the game.. have 9 charisma at 6 lv take magnetic and then at later lv increase charisma XD
(i know its a waste of perk but still interesting XD)

1. yes
2. probably
2. 7 was the cap in f2? I guess it works if you dont overstep it

you could gain ranger reputation for killing slavers and other bandits.
But this could take a while

remember the change that makes rep decay at 100 / day ?

the reputation will clear out after some time but it doesnt say that they will stop shooting

As I remember you can lead only max 10 people (including you) and/or 4 NPCs, that means 4 slaves too ;) CH/2-1, 10CH->5ch-1 = 4. Haven't tried with magnet yet. But i bet max is 5 if perk work correctly.

"you've failed to enslave that person" - have I tried the wrong person type or is it due my low charisma (3) ?

I tried a cannibal or primitive hunter - they all looked the same (had them both in the same encounter)

edit
It worked with 3 ! I encountered another primitive hunter tribe and I could enslave 1  :)

Formula is written wrong..
It should be (3CH-1)/2 i guess, simply half amount of player-only party, which has (3CH-1).

So the max at 9/10CH we got 4 + 1 from magnet bonus. I need to check it on my leader-char when I'll reach max lvl and take gain charisma ;)

Perhaps, but the slaves you get are a good help in combat. And don't forget that they carry weapons you can loot aswell.

but you're totally screwed when you have slaves, you can't exit the encounters you have to kill everything in your way especially considering the lengths you have to go to fing enslavable people, however i was thinking about getting a couple of cute slaves to guard my camp (if you know what i mean  ;), even a cg avatar needs to have some fun sometimes (when i'm not logged on))

I'm slaver for a long time and can tell you it's a bit of fun. Actually there are two things annoying me for now:
1. Slaves accuracy is blocked by missing weapon animations for current skins.
2. There are some bugs like buggy (missing) dialog options.

I wish they could use all animations and have better skills to use energy weapons.

Many interesting suggestions were posted on forum but developers seems to don't care about enough that profession.

well, slavery is always a good breakfast, but exactly which npcs can be enslaved, cause i've heard that female marauders can be enslaved as well.

Female homesteaders have one of the highest slave HP's and can use rippers, fyi.

yea i like slavery too its fun like hell

look at http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Slavers for list npc u can enslave there are errors in "Weapons handled" area  but still is good  to read this if u need quite good info about slavery

Personally im suprissed there is no fallout 2 companion control menu for slaves/mercs.And that slavery is not a profesion like small guns/armorer etc ;/

I have few interesting things:

1. I had two slaves with 158 health points until they died in fight against SF caravan while guarding Fargo transport.
2. There are ladies in metal skin (it's differ than standard metal armor) that are able to enslave. Unfortunately they are weak.
3. Today died possibility to get combat slave with a rope - if bug has been really fixed. Combat slaves are not so combat. There are much better NPC units you can enslave.

gawd, gettind a couple of guys called Holy People (lonely wanderers) would be sweet just because of the banter when you meet them.

Out of curiousity, do any towns shoot you on sight just for being a slaver?

Sorry, to clarify: After your reputation has gone back to neutral.

look at http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Slavers for list npc u can enslave there are errors in "Weapons handled" area

Which ? Please report ;) That wiki page can become very useful and avoid a lot of questions.
Title: Re: Slaving
Post by: Attero on February 07, 2010, 10:38:03 am
well first of all wiki says its 5 char min for enslave ..and this CH/2 -1 would one read that min char is 4 ... but people here stated at 3 they can enslave ... so how many slaves / merc you can have at 5 char ? 2 ? then at 9 you can have 5 ? same at 10 ?

as for slaves - the bottlegger female refuses to use pistols , but used shotguns . also it seems that the list is not compleate ...
i say tis quie annoying to try one by one to see what weapons your slave can use.. as well as lose rope when you try to experiment who you can enslave ...

I can write article about NPCs that can be enslaved with short characteristic.

Also... There need to be written what kind of weapons they CAN use.
Title: Re: Slaving
Post by: naskiel32 on February 07, 2010, 09:25:29 pm
u can be slaver even when u have char 1  ;) and magnetic personality perk u can have then only 1 slave at time but that is not a problem when all u needed is couple slaves for base or tent  (have that done that).  Izual problem with that is now that slave equip weapon only to unequip it it couple secounds later bottlegger female are good example they CAN use pistols like 9mm and 10mm,14mm(!) even 10mm smg (!!)  but uneqip it. So rly there is a problem telling what exacly they can use for sure ( and its not some bug)  like ive wrote before  holly people/lone wanderer(?) use combat knifes, rippers  ive test it on more that 2 (got 1 now with 89hp/ripper in hand) and that is for sure

Title: Re: Slaving

not really its almost like u have paint target mark on your armor when u get in there  :P

ah well, i guess that my brand new crafting area will be the hub.
Any plans on this not being the case sooner or later, (i free people from poverty so they can guard my base with ropes. :D )
Is there any way at all to stop em from shooting you though?

What attack style should we set to our mercs in faction base to disallow them from shooting each other (mercs and slaves are of different people) and still protecting our base from intruders (not only enemies which we set on terminal.. you can't just name all possible intruders)? I set a slave to kill but don't touch me or my friends and he attacked a merc of my friend..

I'm currently in the Raider faction.  I'm used to being shot on sight in every single encounter and most towns.  To become a Slaver, do I have to leave the Raider faction?  I ask because the raider camps are my only safe havens for crafting, besides Boneyard.  Any help would be appreciated.......  Thank You

I am sorry but I don't remember seeing those caravans anywhere in the world map. I have met "traders" some time. Where can I encounter those "caravan"?
