the in game manual does not provide anything usetfull, but is the first thing that does work
the wiki is trolleble if we complete it
so in conclusion we need a new in game manual. we can use the tutorial contest winers to make if (for some PAs maybe) so it will not be some outdated info
-
Yeah.
Manual looks bit outdated and even later after wipe it will be more outdated and make it almost useless.
Yeah wiki need totally update too after wipe.
-
There needs to be some rules posted to prevent uncalled for bannings.
-
To me, it only makes sense to do this pre-wipe. A lot of stuff, like weapons etc, seems to be done automatically. But besides that, there's no point updating the wiki when it'll be out of date post wipe. Same with the manual.
-
I don't think that the pdf manual will ever be updated again. I've put lots of time and energy into it and I like how it turned out, but in the end it's too hard and time consuming to keep it up to date. So when it comes to such data, the wiki really is the only valid way for the future.
-
If we could just point out all the things that aren't up to date, we could make a list of them and collectively fix them in a .htm article that a few people can have access to. That article would reflect the .pdf as it is now. After all the stuff is fixes, we just put the .htm back to .pdf.

if the wiki is the only valid way for the future we need something like links in the game, what noob will look the wiki if they have the manual?
if you will not replace the pdf manual, at least remove it permanently
-
it would be nice to have updated wiki with after-wipe changes, so one could create character for new fonline and not for old one.
-
I think making new manual will be good idea at the end of beta phase.

Well, it will be removed some day.

Or just write in big letters on first page "the manual is outdated, go here for updated info" with a link to the wiki. There are still usefull info in it.
-
I like the idea of having an updated manual atleast after a wipe, for me that seems the best time for it as thats when a lot of people come back and a large flux of new players flow in, getting those people involved in the community with a contests for who can make the best manual like you've done in the past could only be a good thing, right?
At the very least the new players will see an active forum and learn what they should know about the game without having to burden the forum with basic questions IMO.

somewhat out of date, but the most relevant guide I've seen...

Then maybe consider removing this misleading-and-full-of-incorrect-and-outdated-informations document from FOnline installation?
Manual/FOnline2238.pdf
Manual/FOnline2238-ADDITIONAL-NOTES.pdf
And from here? (http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/6436/manus.gif)
I don't understand why you still keep this ::) It's not even much work, you just press delete ;D
Imagine someone finds the game, prints the manual and reads it. And later finds out half of the info was incomplete or wrong.
"If you decided to save all your hard earned money, then opening a bank account is the right thing to do." :P

It is, because it needs a replacement.
-
But you just suggested there will be no more PDF style manuals (or I misinterpreted?), and wiki is there, so maybe just place a shortcut to it.
It lacks general info about interface options and so on, but at this point the manual is incomplete too.
Or maybe we can start "manual" section on wiki to make book-style manual there...

There is a wiki button already.
Don't panic, we will replace it some day.

Then just remove it so that new player don't get missinformed.

Did you tried to read the later posts?

Did you tried to read the later posts?
Ofcourse I did.Yes I know you like the manual and that you put alot of work in it.But many new players read that stuff you know? Or maybe at the beggining of the manual add some message to go to the wiki page instead that way they don't get wrong info. I usually read game manuals and they suppose to give good information not wrong one.
-
I don't think you've read it, because your "then remove it" post was answered already. But let me quote it again for you, just in case:

Ups obviously I missed something. Sorry.
-
I dont think it should be removed, even when i started playing th manual was outdated but it gave me a pretty good idea what the game is about before i started playing it.
