P.S. I LOVE THE ENCLAVE hehe.

I have small guns tagged and science and melee is that what you mean?

SPECIAL/TRAITS/TAGS & perk plan

IMHO melee is only good for making super sledges (at 120% though) and events
It's not good at fighting.

Enclave offers best armorer (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Profession:_Armorer) and EE (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Profession:_Energy_Expert) training, lookup their requirements if you want to craft things.
WRT leadership, you can lead CH-1 players and ROUNDDOWN((CH-1)/2) mercs/slaves. With good OUT (95%) you can be a good hunt leader, because you get to choose whether or not engage an encouter more often than if you had less OUT.
Big disappointment Enclave lover: energy weapons are nerfed hard. Most people wear metal armors so lasers are reduced by 60-84%. My advice, stay with small guns.

Just be prepared that you will get robbed, killed, insulted and the best thing it will probably happen at one moment  ;) but don't worry, you will get used to it (maybe)

welcome man. don't mind them for they do this with all the new players.  ;D
also get into the nonmaterialist mindset and walk around with mininal equipment to negate the losses you may encounter and reduce rage.

also come to Vault City, meet religious fanatics, ghoul citizen(s) and other sorts of wierdos!

Welcome to the game.

Be prepared to have your views challenged, possibly twisted, and most probably insulted.  Probably several times.

Now on to a few tips: be weary of people, as they tend to shoot you in the face as often(if not more so) than not.
-If you are solo with no help, a good build to work with is a simple Smallgun(referred to often as just SG here)crafter + whatever... burster/sniper in this case. Basically your combat skill doubles as your craft-required one, saving skill points.  Of course the flaw of such a build is compromised Everything. Jack of all trades, master of none and such.  It will be useful though, as you make what you need to get by, kill NPC encounters for other stuff you want, and then use your Crafting skills to supplement yourself.  A balancing act based mostly upon taste.

-I suggest you try to use the wiki to familiarize yourself with some of the Perks and Skills ingame, as there are slight differences between this and the vanilla games. Such as presently: Barter does not function the same, Gambling has absolutely no function yet, and using Melee is an easy way to Death. Alot.  Usually in a messy fashion.  It's a fun skill but when people you are fighting have a bursting weapon, that's just throwing yourself on the sword there.

-The game has a Line of Sight (or however you want to term it) right now, and if you want to see your limits, used the Q and W keys to bring up two colored lines.  One is for the range of your weapon, the green line is the extent and 'shape' of your sight.  Really not sure how effective or absolute the shape is but anyway.
-The F6 key puts names over players heads.  This will be useful for remembering who shot you in the face, as this will happen. It is a certainty.

Now as short as I had hoped... but that should hopefully help you a bit.
Oh, and there is always the odd quest for XP and caps/$$$.  Again, look upon wiki or ask the IRC for information. OR better yet, ask ingame. I find the experience interesting to actually bother people ingame for that, then you have a reason to shoot them for the snarky reply!

Most importatn thing in FOnline 2238 is to achive 2238 deaths by burst from avanger of some russian nickname. After achieving this death count you will start repaing the wasteland with the same coin.

Also for new players  :

In launcher, configure,

GAME tab : switch autorun "on" )

COMBAT tab : put 3000 ms or sthing to "damage indication on head".

that makes life in the wastes a bit easier !

Also check out the Fonline2238.cfg file in your Fonline folder : there is auto aim feature (aka bindings) and you can make visible names default in 2238 tab.

What does this do?. I am thinking it might be related to a problem I had where some girl instakilled me with a laser pistol from across the map and I was watching my body mutilate before the projectile even reached me.

Nothing to do with that. It add the amount of damage done above head.

Welcome to FOnline 2238, GEN_Kessler.
I hope you will play FOnline for as long as possible.
It is kind of frustrating some times because you WILL
die alot of times and you will loose all your inventory and so on...
We have all gone through the harshness of the wasteland and
belive me, sometimes you just want to quit. I am sure that that
time you "quit" you will be back again online in 30 mins because
this game is pretty addictive. You will have to learn alot because
it's similar to fallout 1 & 2 but it's still a whole new game. I would
suggest you to look up the FOnline 2238 wiki:
http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Main_Page

And also, use the search button here on the forum if you wonder anything.
For example: You want to create a tent, but you dosen't know how to do it.
- You use the search button and enter the word "tent".
I am sure you will find what you need, also check out the
Survival Guides / Game Help section for the latest topics and write a new topic
if you can't find what you are looking for.

My advices to you are the following:

• Don't travel with a big inventory.
• Don't trust anyone in the beggining.
- You can do it, but be careful if you do and don't show him/her your tent.
• Look for a faction.
- It's alot easier to play together with someone insteed of alone.
• Invite your friends, this is good for both you and the community.
- More players more fun.
• Keep fighting for your own sake.
- If you want to do something, do it.
Don't let those "big players" tell you what to do.
Belive in yourself and fight for your freedom.
• Follow the forum and IN-game rules.
- You don't want to get banned.
• Look at guides to create a good build for your character.
- The tags and skills you chose on the original fallouts may not fit as good
on FOnline 2238.
• Take it easy.
- You don't want to rage. People don't like when you rage.
I know it's hard but, press esc if you are angry.
• Never fight with game masters or higher ranks, they are our gods.

Well that are just some advices, I am sure there will come alot of more
good advices for you on this topic.

Take care and see you IN-game.

i think death in fonline is most small thing ( only 1 min cd and some stuff ).
but at start u can die often, or go and make doctor and live in vc, u need just be care about 2 or 3 tent followers, than live in vc just about 1 month.
and u need live city just for gather flowers or fruits (if u doctor)
all u exp can come from crafting chems.

enclave - most small evil in fonline. they even dont shoot people near navarro, and u can come to 5 hex at base. or u can join enclave and be simple enclave soldier, but they support only energy crafting.

if u wannuh be pro, use nitue.net/fcp (for make build) and fo2238.fodev.net/wiki, for look at requirements for perks, weapon, proffesions and where u can grab some loot.
