After today's PvE event (Thanks Rusty and Nexxos), i noticed that in hectic combat situations, it might be useful to have a shortcut key for "use", analogue to "a" for Attack.
For example, we have a super stimpak in our active slot. To use the item in active slot on yourself, press "d" twice, (start a use cooldown to prevent a guy with n stims to be immortal) for using it on something else, press it once and click on the target.
That would be pretty handy in combat, don't you think?
-
i think it was suggested already and yes it would be great to have something like that :>
-
Hell yeah! And if it was bindable, even better! And if it was also for items in inventory, it would be perfect. Oh wait, no, it's cheat. We must keep a gameplay of turn based game dudes.
-
I don't see why 'A' doesn't work. Especially for things like the knife and hammer.

And yeah, for shit shoveling too.
Edit: too much beer yesterday

Yeah in my opinion, 'a' should be equal to left clicking weapon slot.

No, wait, why is it a cheat?
I don't know if you want to use multiple drugs, like Psycho AND Stimpaks every two seconds, i guess that would be cheating. If there was a brief pause between usages of Stimpaks, so you could, gamebalance-technically, be killed, that would render "a"-tapping pwnzer demigods outbalanced again. So no cheat, no sarcasm necessary.

This idea is fine, same with pressing "5" twice to FA yourself. "6" twice to be able to doc yourself, etc.

I was refering to the FOCD, which were allowing to heal yourself or use item on self through bindable hotkeys. Not cheat at all like it was still spending your AP, you just didn't have to go in your inventory, long click, release click... I just would love to see that IG (and without CD, WTF, we have action point and animation time for that), nothing to do with cheat for me. But like FOCD was banned, I guess dev (of 2238, like FOCD is allowed on both TLA and requiem) prefer that we keep a shitty TB gameplay mechanics (cause in TB, you've got all your time to open inventory, choose item, etc...).

Yes, this is the *really* the reason FOCD was banned ::)

The ability to pumping yourself up with superstims every 10 seconds? Yeah.
On the other hand, this thread isn't about FOCD, this is about a quick one-time "save-your-ass-ticket", which is usually a Stimpak or a good FA skill, made quick enough with a shortcut key.
I'd feel sorry, if it would be abused, on the other hand, i see that some of you have a strained relationship with cooldowns, so no cooldowns, then? You pump yourself up with too much drugs, you jump the blade and die - i believe Badger made a OD suggestion earlier. No cooldowns, "the strain WILL kill you for sure."
-
The rolling of the eyes was to indicate that hotkeys, of course, were not the reason FOCD was banned.

So, what's your verdict of my suggestion then, Mr.Solar?

Oh, in that case can we have any hope to see all those hotkeys (and health above head) appear as a feature?

Don't really understand what you mean. Only drug you really to take fast (because during combat) is (super)stim. Which don't make you invulnerable even if you take it very fast.
Anyway, of course I support this suggestion (without the cooldown because it don't really have point).

If its technically possible, don't see why not. As I understand it, its not so simple as us waving a magic wand and creating them - but there's little point asking me about technical stuff :P

I meant one superstim in a minute would heal 100HP, the second stim right afterwards would add 50 HP, giving a grisly side effect and the third one during the next 20 seconds will be your overdose, killing you, same with other drugs. You will have to wait. Or risk.

Thank you for appreciating the suggestion, then. :)

Mmmmh, doesn't sounds good. In fight, you often loose 200HP before taking cover, or even only 100 , but it can happen many times. In some battles, I use +/-10 ss in 5 min..
And be killed when you want to heal yourself seem a bit harsh, even for wasteland (no point in taking more two dose of other drugs btw).
And well, I guess it's technically possible like already been done.

FOCD=what?
