Title: Starting out
Post by: wolfman on January 30, 2010, 10:57:06 pm
well i don't know if anyone has come up with this idea or even if alot of people will like it however for all those people who are just starting out and keep getting pk'ed alot (like myself lolz at all those noob bashers out there i know i explode when i die) it might be an idea to set up a part of the map to actually start from i love the randomness when starting however if you end up in a pk loved town then as soon as you log in and register your dead end of and that does kinda suck all the fun out of the game

my idea (before i lose track of what im saying) is to have 9 squares on the map where player vrs player is not allowed a starting point for all new players so they can get a feel for the game should they be new to it altogether in a small town where they can get not so much a foothold in the game but a feel for it and learn how some of the aspects work like trading talking to npc's doing quests without running the risk of the back of their head suddenly becoming holey like mine was 1 time LOL

i feel this would help new players get a feel for the game if they have never even played any of the fallout games and would also stop the instant register die lose everything oh im playing something else attitude
it would be a more gradual introduction to the game fully rather than your here get on with it which does tend to help more when people have no clue how to play the game

if anyone can think of a better idea or expand on this 1 as it is a raw idea im sure it would help

Maybe it wouldnt be bad to limit spawn points to the guarded cities, although I realy dont know if the situation is that terrible.

haha i got that image in my mind now ...

9 squares of non pk zone - a safe island filled with noobs and around it sharks-pk'ers swimming in circles or siting in their traps waiting for some fresh meal XD

Wolfman, holy shit.

You haven't used a single dot or comma, despite meticulously placed 1337ness.
And not even in Suggestions.

I'm sure everybody would take your idea seriously. No, really.

Apart from his post structure i spotted another problem: more and more topics about hard first days in game (PK, stealers etc. etc.). Problem is growing, maybe it's good time to start doing something with this...

May be better make 1st lvl characters 100% resistant from players' attacks and steal skill and ofcouse same to them, they can't attack and steal from others, include others 1st lvl characters. Because also you can see some 1st lvl 10 STR 10 END 10 AGI others min, with Unarmed 90% or 10 AGI and steal 50% (not so high but.. it's only 1st lvl).

But i think the best way is to leave everything like now.

May be make something like "childkiller" karma, so it'll be added "noobkiller" karma, so PKers of 1st lvl noobs will get very very very bad reputations with all, etc. But... how to see 1st lvl char or no? 15 lvl can wear blue suit and remove brahmin's shit too. ^_^

Maybe just tribal suits for 1-levels? I know, they don't have all animations. And wasteland is harsh  8)

Seems nice. It would be actually good, if all players start with the lowest age and when they advance a lvl they age for some value (if possible). Then looking on someone would tell, how old is he/ she (but only something as now.. child, young, etc.). Ofc if technically possible.

That's one way to do it. RPers be pissed though.
