Title: Ultra Merceneries

There should be some Ultra mercs avaible to hire:

NCR Ranger in NCR with LSW/Plasma Rifle
HUB Officer in HUB with Avenger/Sniper Rifle
VC Patrol in VC with Improved Flamer/p90

Their prices could be simillar to Mutants prices

So you are suggesting overpowered mutants mercs, except now they will even have more gun options available, and they can run!

They got rid of mutants for a reason... and especially with broken economy, this is bad.

It does mean more mercs swarm. 10000 caps for dog in Junktown as soon as big factions got those mercs.

I don't like the idea of having mercs with high as fuck stats to start out with but this idea might have potential if those mercs had some type of special ability, for example a slaver merc would be able to enslave 1-2 people on his own...perhaps an ncr merc being able to recruit a person or two to "join in the fight" things like that could be interesting.

Mercs soon won't come with free equipment anymore , you have to equip them on your own.

If it comes to hth mercs, they are already have to be armed becouse combat knife/sledgehammer < ripper/cattle prod/ssh ;]

Hmmm i think this would just overpower merc artillery even further.
Better balance out mercs more and as Surf said in future mercs wont be equipped when hired we could think about what weapons they can use. you can equip them yourself then and make some badass ultramercs like him:

At the moment: You buy merc. Merc comes with gear.
In some sooner update: You buy merc. Merc comes without gear.

Not that it matters whether they come with rocket launchers or not, if you spend half a million on 5 big gun mercs :P

I think the gear is not really a problem, because prices of mercs are dynamic, so the cost of gear is already included by free market forces.

Indeed, but let's consider prices of mercs are in reasonable regions, 1-2k caps for a ghould + a new sniper rifle isn't good either. ;)

If you buy a merc with a 10mm SMG, you can sell the SMG for 1k caps. since its brand new, and worth its full value.

So if the merc prices are low, you -can- hire a merc and than get a large part of its cost back, depending on how much it cost.

Are we ever going to get respawnable followers? (Not mercs) Having a crew that you've levelled along with your character would be very rewarding.

think its BAD idea .. think it takes 1 day to make a 12x HP energy merc into 200++ hp merc and from what i know they dont have level CAP so 2-3 weeks = 700hp follower?

maybe few days after wipe, coz now ghoul with sniper cost around 20k

If mercs don't have a level cap...can't remember since I've lost count the times I've gotten to the high teens and lost a merc I'm sure it would be quite easy to give them one. Granted i still like the idea of build a merc where you get to choose what armor/load out it comes with (the armor would probably have to be several times the price of the actual armor in game since it's a skin and doesn't det. Having them start weak as fuck similar to a PC and making people earn strong mercs instead of having them given out beefy. That may require being able to have them respawn but for a hefty price around what you paid originally.

They start at level 1.....
and stop at level 21....
They simply have a huge starting up bonus "90-130 HP + weapon + Never deteriorating armor.

The most I see a merc at lvl 21 having is about maybe 300-400 hp. (Humans)

I do not like fucking with high statistics at the beginning of the mercenary idea, but the idea may have potential, if these mercenaries have some type of special abilities, such as a slave merchant MERC will be able to enslave the people 1-2 of his own ...
