Tired of having your pocket picked?
Combine Gold Pieces with:
Scorpion Poison
or
Floater Venom
or
Uranium
or
etc.
Creates a coin that no longer spends, but if picked up by a thief poisons them or irradiates them or both. Should be invisible to thieves but visible to player. Proportion of poisoned coins to real ones is the odds that a thief has something nasty happen to them.
Could also booby trap weapons and etc.

Would be better if it creates item with same description as Caps, but when thief tries to pickpocket it from your inventory, they get radiated, poisoned... etc. Of course, being poisoned is a laughable matter... as it goes away in a couple minutes...

thats not really a solution.. most thieves have 0 items on their inventory.. doesnt matter if they die.. theyl just respawn at zero cost

I haven't been playing for awhile nor have i have radiated in a long ass time but doesnt that require a doctor or rad away and not death to go away? If it does i like this idea.

ye but if it radiates them they lose stats, and thieves rely on ST to carry stuff, and AP to use steal

It does not have to be "standard" poison or standard radiation.
Alternately, say you rig a gun, bag, etc that are classes of booby traps, the sort of stuff thieves like to steal. So you have a wealthy player who hates thieves keeps a spare "booby trapped" set of grenades in his pack, or a middle of the road person has a booby trapped SMG.
Basically identically looking stuff - the deadliness of the trap based upon the skill of the maker-
Guild crafters could make all kinds of stuff for guildmates that would make thieving a bit risky. As it stands, there is little to no risk to stealing. I might just spend some time standing in the bank, my pockets full of radiated coins, take as much as you like. Now that would be funny.

Indeed a good use of the traps skill, with the deadliness/how intense radiation could be based off of it sounds very nice...granted I'm sure someone will point out that if the thief gets radiated how does the original player not get radiated by the same item.

I had a thief with 1 ST, he was doing fine. AP would be a problem only if it dropped below the number needed to use Steal skill (4?)...
-
Caps are already like a booby trap, and unless you're cheating, you cant steal all that many caps at once. (all that many caps by today's standards that is...)

1 ST thief? It's awesome! If you're stealing pistols
Besides, many thief chars are used to steal from BOS, so if they lose their carryweight they would have to go to doctor / use radaway eventually.
Because I'm guessing the main issue atm is that thieves don't have any loss

I'm talking about stealing not some lame powermonkey farming.
With 1 ST and small frame you can steal every weapon and armor that is in game.

i think radiation can radiate items. so when u radiated and loose about 2 ag 2 pe yours items must be radiated too. (so they can make other people standing nearby radiated) its not fallout 1 or 2 feature, just find it in crippled mind after this topic.
