Title: "It's okay, i'm a doctor."
Post by: Alvarez on February 25, 2011, 08:29:10 pm
I suggest that the healed NPC resets the "keep-your-distance" cooldown for another members in his party.

After all, would you shoot a doctor coming near you after you saw him healing your comrade? I guess that would be pretty unrealistic.

It's very annoying when you want to do First Aid/Doctor on a NPC and they say "GTFO YOU - Oh thanks about that :) - MOTHERFUCKER IMMA SHOOT YOU STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME, etc."

I also like you suggestion.

NPCs are too agressive to friendly players that like heal them.
This makes it even more safe to heal NPCs without problems.

When I heal Brotherhood patrols, they give me free Rockets to show their gratitude.

But, especially when the NPC is at negative HP. I could easily just kill it, but FA'ing the NPC would be much nicer if as soon as they got up, they didn't run after me and shoot me.

The whole system of "Don't come any closer" NPC reaction needs to be changed, because it doesn't prevent stealing from Brotherhood Patrols, and it doesn't prevent placing a Dynamite snugly into an Enclave soldier's pocket.

Thanks for feedback, guys :)

They really could drop a few ammo pieces and have some more random words of gratitude, like BoS "Thank you, wastelander", Enclave "Look guys, this mutie healed me, just like that!" or raiders "Next time i will kill you quick and painless :]"

Sure, they should still have an eye, what you're doing and get pissy, if the see you cutting AP rocket tumors out or administer kieselguhr aspirin...;) Some kind of doctor reputation system would help, perhaps?

For the start, maybe even an own pipboy entry like "Character with most healed NPC in the wastes." or such.

but it fits with the real life, its a natural behavior in the postapocaliptic wasteland

Worng. If your arm is broken and you cannot wield your minigun because of it, you would let a doctor fix you, maybe with your pals watching him with their guns in their hands just in case.
