Well, throwing knives does have same AP cost as pistols, but they are much cooler.

Why aren't the enemies using snipers to sweep the buildings through windows, outside the range of throwing knives?

Awesome moments, great faction background and so on. Fun and relieving to see some people can go further than "snipers-bgers-gogopwn" and pew pew :P (Note: I'm playing a SG char, no offence intended towards usual builds).
