Title: Execute Start Script Failure
Post by: foonlinecurious on February 23, 2011, 06:36:16 am
How did i know this would happen? nothing ever just functions properly  ;(

I downloaded fo ol 2238, i clicked update button, i clicked play, it says execute start script fail, and under registration i cannot select a character name.
on installing i put the master path to the master.dat and critter to critter.dat,
was i supposed to physically drag and drop anything somewhere?

I did not see anything liike this on the forums, so i apologize if this has already been over on another thread.

have you created a scripts folder in your data folder?

Also im unsure but you may need to make a change to the config file both of which were required from previous updates.

fonline.cfg.  you have to edit something in it, i forget.  here's the bottom half of mine, i think that's where the change was:

DoubleClickTime=200
CombatMessagesType=0
FonlineDataPath=.\data
PatchDatPath=faction.zip
FlushValue=85
BaseTexture=1024
VSync=0
BackGroundClear=0
Logging=1
LoggingTime=0
MasterDatPath=Master.dat
CritterDatPath=Critter.dat

SoftwareSkinning=0
Animation3dFPS=0
Animation3dSmoothTime=250
Multisampling=-1
AlwaysRun=0

In the FOnline.cfg file, find the line "PatchDatPath=fonline.dat" and change it to "PatchDatPath=faction.zip"

If problems persist you should have a look through this thread (http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=3853.0) for similar issues or post further details there if you still cant get it to work.

also when i try to update again it says

Begin checking...
Receive Launcher.exe 338432 bytes.
Unable to save file.
Receive data/default.cache 6114882 bytes.
Done, for 15 seconds.
Receive data/scripts/client_parameters.dll 37200 bytes.
Unable to save file.
Update complete.
Checking end.

i take it the unable to save file thing is bad or? does that just mean because i already have it?

I guess you should go check out the other thread (which i linked in my previous post) for similar problems if it doesn't run.

Unable to save file.

Close launcher when updating.

Receive data/scripts/client_parameters.dll 37200 bytes.
Unable to save file.

Create data/scripts/ folder.

I got it to work

you have to make the Scripts folder with a capital S
that would have been nice to know -.-
