As we know, most of the locations in FOnline:2238 has unique Fallout (2) soundtrack. But track "Desert Wind" is quite annoying when listen several times in a row. So my proposition is to give random soundtrack (from the Fallout ones) to encounters and base locations.

Well maybe it has to do with personal taste, and not with something we really need.
-
Perhaps Eter. But sill it's not bad suggestion.
-
I personally love that track and think it fits the enviroment. What other tracks would you suggest?
-
The track is perfectly fine for the wasteland. If you really can't stand it anymore, put some .ogg file with the same name in your directory and replace it ( ugh) or just lower the volume/disable the music.
-
Don't get me wrong. "Desert Wind" and I really want it ingame, because it's really good track, but appears in too many places imho.
Yes, Eternauta. Personally I like "Metallic Monks", "Industrial Junk", "Vault of the Future" , "Gold Slouch" and "City of the Dead" much more than "Desert Wind".

Usually, when I am not on Mumble, I simply turn off FOnline music and listen to my favourite tracks on Winamp, they incluse some original Fallout tracks, the Van Buren soundtrack, some of Surf Solar's music and a few tracks from the Shadowrun (SNES) soundtrack :D

I don't know if it's possible yet (have to talk with cvet or the others about it) to have more then one track dedicated to one type of map. If this is possible, then we'll see what we can do. :) I can understand that especially the Desert Wind, even if it sounds amazing, can be a bit tedious at times (as it is the same track in each encounter). If it's possible, I'll see to make something appropriate then.
-
If this is possible
Nope.
Beside this: Turn off the music, if it's annoying?
-
Nope.
Then there should be work around, hm? :) Already suggested it to cvet a bit ago.
-
I personally wouldn't want to see it. Desert music fits to deserty maps. Playing city ruins or glow music there would be crap and unfitting.
-
New music can be made. Also, if you play the game for some time, it really gets annoying, regardless how good the track is, so I can understand the OP. Just turning off the music is a cheap option for that.
-
I play Fallout since 10+ years and I never found it annoying. :p In hard cases, I simply turn off the music and put in my own turf.
Regarding new music: So far I've never heard anything from anyone that came really close to the original soundtrack without beeing too much electronic music or too overdone in composition.
-
Me too. :) But playing Fallout and FOnline is something different, imo. The rate you get encounters in FOnline is higher and I personally was annoyed by it a few times as well. Anyway, this is a matter of personal taste and preference (some don't care about music at all).
-
Well Lexx, I play Fallout almost long as you and Surf (something about 8, maybe 9 years) but I have to agree with Surf Solar, that playing Fallout and FOnline is sth different. But also it seems that Eternauta and Surf. It's matter of the personal taste more.
But there's music, mainly independent fits to FOnline as well. You just have to browse the netlabels.
Beside this: Turn off the music, if it's annoying?
Yes, it seems that there's no other option, I just have to turn off ingame music and play other Fallout track.

After the next update, encounter locations will have predefined ambient music, from which one track is randomly played. Ambient sfx isn't affected by this.
