If this game faces one big problem, it's the playerbase we all know.
There are 2 different groups of players, and they differ alot in their goals,
their ideas of having fun and their whole behaviour in game.
The first group is represented by kids from 12 years up to 2x, we call them rage kids for now.
Rage kids never played Fallout much, they like to powerbuild, multilog and pwnlulz. Mostly they play to own everyone.
To achieve this, they give a crap about rules, and usually a rage kid is also a fanboy of tools and exploits
which make him even more superior. His main goal is to be insulted it may show to others,
as he puts alot of patience and time into pissing off other people.
The second group is represented by old people, i mean really old, 25 years and older. Usually these guys
should already been married and not play old computer games, but somehow they made their way into
this massive multiplayer online raping game. The old Fallout guy played alot Fallout 1-2
(possible he missed 1-2 years of his life doing it) and hist first Fonline character usually has skills
"speech" "barter" and "gambling" tagged. This kind of player is pretty helpful ingame, he even
may come up with the idea to "rp", which is an attemp to do something else than random kill,
but is also a rage kid abbreviation for "acting pretty gay".
So im just curious which one is the bigger group. Vote moles, but dont forget only 1 vote each alt!

Yo wife called, she said gtfo the computer and stop drinking too much kölsch.
Well im 21 and i count myself as "old gamer" because todays typical games and gamers make me sick. its all about moneyz, pwning n00bs and quick game fun from the first minute of the game.
Let todays typical gamer play a forgotten realms rpg. he will go crazy "what the fuck? why does this sword make 1Dice6 damage? And where the hell is my mana bar? Wheres the button to switch to 1st person? I want a WASD control! Why the hell is my char swinging his weapon so slow? I wanna hammer my mouse moar! Whats a safe roll? Why is my thief not invisible while in stealth mode? What the fuck, i cant take this item off because its cursed? RAEG!"

Hell, I'm only 19 and I would already undersign this.

main problem of this topic - short sightedness and lack of objectivity of the author.
The game have a lot more player classes than 2.
I. Real Hardcore Players - they take game as it is, without whining on forum and creating a shit storm on every issue they don't like. They are really old players and most of them have good connection with Developers by using this bond they doing what they must do - reporting bugs, glitches, and suggesting how to improove gameplay.
subclasses: 1)PvP elite
2)old RP players who don't want to engage in PvP
note: there are no loners in this category coz this people realised (long time ago) what this is gang game and u need to coop with someone to actually achieve something.
II Ones who think what they are Hardcore Players - People who already have experience of the game. they creating good suggestions to improve the game and making the less mess on forum when they don't like something. But still they are in a transition phase between I and III classes.
III. Casual Players - Players who always have some problems because they always are not satisfied with the existing order of things and innovations. They can not focus on testing and fixated on trying to turn this game from hardcore to casual. When they can not obtain or they obtain but not exactly what they wanted to - forum erupts with moans and shitty post tracker growing exponentially.
sublcasses: 1) 80% of newcomers
2) grifiers
3) Tents snails
4) hamsters
Might explain that each class has different people with different interests, mentality and mindset. For casual player (topic starter) is very difficult to understand that if a player going to kill another player, the reasons may be so many, not just for teh Lulz!1. And most important - It is our nature, people have always killed their own kind and will do it always, but in games murder does not carry the same consequences like in real life. And that is why hardcore gaming reigns primitive rules -
1) Adapt or die out.
2)The Strongest one prevails over the weaker one.
Once the game losing touch with these rules, it becomes a regular game for the mainstream
-
Heh.. i think that i could play still Fallout 1/2, but MMORPG version.
(Still it not possible, because of PKs that destroy everything fun from game)
-
You set really weird classes ...
Its like when i must choose if i am a) moron
b) asshole
8)

I'm roleplaying "Rage kid! Z0MG pWned 111!!!" ;)

Yes the division is too narrow.

Probably the worst type of players are long-medium timers who have managed to adapt to the current settings. They never report anything, and reply to the reports of others in spiteful ways, suggesting others to quit the game, learn to play or stop whining. That kind of activity is very harmful to the progress of the game and only causes hostility and cynicism among the community.

Phased out, but well, yeah, I sometimes play when I feel melancholic.
-
Well... Its not really supposed to be up to the person to tell who he/she is between two choices personality wise because such is supposed to be defined by how others react to you, not how you think you react to others.
So I can't really say.
But I can safely say I'm not a rage kid, I've been out of that phase for.. a year or so now. But I've only played fallout 2, (and bethesda's versions) and I'm 15, so im not old timer either.
Question: How can define this stuff by age? Thats completely unfair/biased.

Started as a crafter and thought it was cool to create things.
Now ocassional logging in to create some stimpaks and wander around wasteland healing and taxing random people, some RP too. Dying, brushing the weakness off, FAing, nothing happened.
I'm an unhappy 2238 addict.
-
I am just player who is trying to make his gameplay as comfortable as possible while beeing able to pwn in big PvP.
-
old RP fag in young RealLife outfit
for many months Ive been tyring to achieve own goals as RolePlayer, and many knew me... once.
but for now I am just a fucker which has addapted to environment, I am the effect of evolution and 2238 gamer at its finest.
*Reloads his rifle in a slow, mechanical way, like he was repeating this same move over and over since he was born. He looks at the body of the poor, young guy in awesome leather jacket, which is lying on the ground and bleeding. The guy is still alive, but Impre finishes him off barehanded. They look kind of similar, but Impre is... older? He's not even checking the body, as he stopped to need anything at the moment when he achieved everything. Despite the rust on his armor he gets up fast and silent, looks around and then retuns back to the throne. He salutes before the Redding King, but he has nothing to say at all*

My answer is: old roleplay bastard.
I wonder if so many people choosing RP, why there's so many "Rage kid! Z0MG pWned 111!!!" around the Wastes?
-
TC/PvP/NotPK(and not antipk)/helpfully player.
