Post by: BFG9000 on January 22, 2010, 06:17:21 pm
Hello guys.

Some questions about tents.

- Could they be found by going random on squares?
- If not, are items stored in tent 100% safe unless someone try follow me to house location?

Answer for both questions is yes.

One thing to add: if you wont visit your tent it will disappear after week.

Sorry mate its now confusing for me.

So someone trying luck could accidentaly step on place where my tent is and find it.

Also someone could find it by folllow trick which isnt hard to avoid.

I think nobody can now accidentally find your tent this way. Only watch for following.

Before you go on vacation, put all your stuff in a trusted friend's tent till you return. Or just liquidate all your assets, ie. sell the stuff. Bank the caps. When you return go brahmin hunting around NCR, collect your ten hides [unless you already have extras in friend's tent], and make a new tent. Another alternative is creating a joint owned tent. You and a trusted friend go to a new tent location together. Doesnt matter which one of you builds it so long as both are present. From then on either of you can get back to tent alone. This way the tent is more likely to stay in use. Down side is of course two people making separate trips to the same tent increases your chances of picking up tent raiders. But how hard is it for everyone to just look at the names listed on WM before entering tent?

This 7 days limit is just for the moment, because there are so many unused tents.
They said it will be more days to last in the future, so your vacancy is save. ;)

Didn't think unused tents really mattered since it doesn't make everyone see a green dot on the map like caravans..

All map data is stored in the ram, regardless if its empty, unused or whatever. The more maps, the more needed ram and if ram limit is exceeded, the server crashs. So it doesn't matter if you can see a map or not, it's always there.
