Title: Random encounters
Post by: Nyan on January 21, 2010, 10:58:30 pm
Im not sure if this was already mentioned but:
-everything is so fast now, that I dont even

-encounter: raiders fighting radioscorpions. Suddenly - Raider: hey, let's not fight each other and chop that poor thief girl who can't steal anything because of nerfing. Radioscorpion: *click click* and they all start to attack me! Isn't it ridiculous? I mean they were in the middle of the fight!

-random encounter: enclave fighting bos fighting giant mutated lobsters from outer space fighting zordon - 46 exp. random encounter: giant rats - 96 xp. Seriously, what were you thinking? I talk about outdoorsman skill

1 - TLA real-time it's much more reasonable compared to 2238. It would be better to have that imo, everything in 2238 real-time is way too fast to even shoot.
2 - Well, logically I don't think Raiders and Radscorpions would just stop fighting each other (especially radscorpions) and focus their attention on some random player who walks up - it's kinda bad game mechanics.
3 - This should probably be changed if you really found some mutated space lobsters fighting Zordon against BoS and Enclave. ;)

High PE and SEQ now is worthless.
I have the 10PE char and I am being killed by almost every encounter, cause I spawn like 20-25 hexes from critters while they have 40-45 range of shoot.
It fucked up, with 25SEQ I should be able to run form almost every encounter.

After 10 mins

I've just spawned like 10 hexes from Unity Patrol. The only way to play alone is to have 8-10END high level char.

yeah, so wild animals stop fighting people who they were fighting because they see a lone stranger. Sure is logic in here.

and about the third one I mean you get lots of xp for avoiding rats and small amount for avoiding powerful enemies in big groups.

Before the last encounter changes, you spawned even closer.

People weak in outdoors suffer when wandering on the wastes.. Learn something about outdoorsmen, then go on the desert ;)

Before the last encounter changes, you spawned even closer.
That doesnt make any difference if I spawn 5 or 30 hexes from encounter with 40-45 range.
It's like you going on map, encounter, and you're dead.
It would make some difference if you spawned few hexes further than their range of shoot.

I've chosen weak outdoor char thinking that with highest SEQ possible I will be able to run from anything I meet, cause I will be seeing them much earlier than them. It would be nice to play some other chars than with over 100% outdoor.

Find the group leader then ;) It's a MMO! Play with people! I've got 28 ODM and almost never go alone anywhere..

It's always "You vs. Radscorpions AND raiders AND angry tax collectors."
Even before the change, as you've been spawned in the middle of critters, they wouldn't charge all together on you, so you had a chance to outrun them, while they're been busy.

If it would work, i'd travel and enter maps in sneak, even if it takes four times slower than normal.

OMG I am trying to point where the problem is, I have friends I can go with to protect me, but I am talking about loners,  and the thing that with HIGHEST SEQ POSSIBLE I am not able to run from anything. SEQ is totally useless in RT for now and I am trying to tell devs that current solution from last change isn't working well. It does not make a difference where you spawn, as long as you spawn in range of shoot of NPC's which are extremely accurate.
It would be fine if SEQ would affect time after which NPCs start shooting you (maybe it does already, I don't know)
and it should make the highest SEQ chars be able to run from encounters.

Personally I LOVE fast fights, it's hard but much more fun, and it's one big reason for what I prefer 2238 to 4000.
But anyway it's true that some critters are little too fast now.

Totally agree with you. It's unrealistic and boring. Maybe some (and not all!) should attack you when you attack them, but not stop their fight to run on you.

-random encounter: enclave fighting bos fighting giant mutated lobsters from outer space fighting zordon - 46 exp. random encounter: giant rats - 96 xp. Seriously, what were you thinking? I talk about outdoorsman skill
I agree too, I never understand the logic which command the xp reward.
