Title: Get rid of xp from Sally Givens
Post by: HertogJan on November 21, 2010, 05:34:25 pm
I didn't really notice it sooner, but selling spears to Sally Givens in Junktown gives you xp???
What the hell is that all about?

Please get rid of it, it makes absolutely no sense.

If someone wants to collect spears to sell to get EXP, as oppose to bashing molerat head to get EXP, let them.

Than have every trader give xp for selling items.
The reward you get for selling to her is caps.

Well you do get xp for using every other skill, why not for barter?

When dealing with Sally you don't use barter. You get a fixed price.

...what is the problem? You don't like extra exp, even if it's small? Treat it like quest then. "Collect some spears for me I take them all".

Than it should be made a quest, repeatable and with a cooldown.
I haven't done any repeatable quest, but the cooldown should be the same.
Either that or increase the amount of (sharpened) spears or change the items needed every time you do to quest.
Change of items could involve junk and things that are made mostly out of junk: BBs, radios, brass knuckles, spiked knuckles, shovel, old shovel, extended magazine, speed loader.
That would make the quests similar to the 'Bring items to Monte Carlo' quest in the Boneyard.
Reward could than be changed to an amount based upon the amount and item you need to bring.
It should stay less than than when selling it to a trader as you also get xp as a reward.

I still have not heard what bothers You with it? It is only for right compartmentalization? (I was googling for a while this word, sry ^^)

It is one of not much ways to get pure caps beside TC.

I don't mind the caps.
It's a nice way to get caps for loners and low level players.

I just think it's nonsense to get xp for trading stuff.

Either make it a full quest (see my previous reply in this thread) or get rid of the xp.
Now it works a bit like trading and a bit like a quest, but it's neither.
I wouldn't mind having some kind of repeatable gathering quest, similar to the one Monte Carlo gives in the Boneyard.
Gather an x amount of items which can be recycled.
Items made from junk seems the most logical as spears use junk to, it's called Junktown, etc.
All of it is also basically low tier stuff, which makes it doable for low level players.

I don't see a single problem with this, to be honest.
I have +5xp for single lines too in my dialogues, should I scrap these now because "they are no quests"?

I'm sorry but I have no idea what you mean with the +5 xp for single lines in dialogues.
I just think Sally Givens could be improved as it seems to me it's a bit half done the way it is now.

I mean that in the dialogues I write sometimes you get some 5xp granted for choosing the correct line, without a "quest" behind it, just for the spice. And nothing more are the xp for the spears here, it's just for the spice, that's why I said there is not really a problem in there.
