Title: New setup for the 19/11/2010 update
Post by: Ghosthack on November 20, 2010, 08:42:50 pm
Because of the recent update, there have been quite a bit of confusion as to how to fix some of the problems emerging from the update. Because of that, we have updated the client setup to work fully with the recent 19/11/2010 update.
Just download it, run, install in an appropriate folder, run the updater to check for recent updates, adjust the settings and then launch the game like normal.

Download from ModDB (http://www.moddb.com/downloads/start/20938)

If the download above does not work, try one of the mirrors:
Mirror #1 - SpeedyShare (http://www.speedyshare.com/files/25290545/download/FOnline2238Client%2019%2011%202010.exe)
Mirror #2 - MediaFire (http://www.mediafire.com/?jy6vrf8yvxzl1tm)

Can you play normally without that setup? You can. So guess what.

Only those with problem. And for new players that don't have game already.

SO, should we download the whole thing or are you saying if we already have game just re-update?

I re-updated, it updated, so I click play again from launcher, same problem already described here:

hi Devs. not my lucky day here. still can t get the game working. had it crashing on start, then copied file to effects folder and had it working a while but without the FOV lines (map was not all revealed as for Jovanka, though), then reinstalled with new client and it started to crash after splash screen... here s an excerpt from IRC with the comments on my Fonline bin file:

         http://pastebin.com/R4YBPJF4 (http://pastebin.com/R4YBPJF4)

   <jan0s1k>   strange. out of memory
   <[Cajuns]Musashi>   never had that before
<jan0s1k>   how much your video card have mb? and your RAM
<[Cajuns]Musashi>   both low, but never stopped me from playing. lemme check values
<Ahbobsaget>   Try to create an empty file:
       data/effects/Interface_Default.fx   ??
   <[Cajuns]Musashi>   512RAM (yes i know) and 64MB (yes i doubleknow) - it s ALWAYS worked with this
<[Cajuns]Musashi>   i did just before i posted this
<[Cajuns]Musashi>   didn t seem to do anything
<jan0s1k>   or maybe you should look onto your task manager, and check if maybe some apps use too much something
<[Cajuns]Musashi>   since my machine is slow, i usually have nothing too heavy in background
   <[Cajuns]Musashi>   nop, nothing
   <jan0s1k>   ;/
   <[Cajuns]Musashi>   so, retracing
      1. nevermind before, i uninstalled and reinstalled new client version
<Wichura>   is it integrated video card?
<[Cajuns]Musashi>   think so, how do i check that?
                2. however, new version installed in another folder, like C: Games
           3. went on to update, no update needed
           4. still had intact art/intrface folder with post-futur interface + SCOPE, so cut it and pasted it into new data folder
           5. didn t work
           6. went to check inside faction.zip, extracted thingy file from it into effects folder, replaced another file with same name there
           7. looked at Jovanka s post and answers again, tried changes described
           8. no dice
               that s basically it
oh look, it workd on 800x600
oh look, it workd again in 1024
               pray
          damn
               doesn t work in 1280
guess problem is +- narrowed down

So it s clearly a video problem... i d rly like to get my 1280 resolution back. help please. thx in advance

EDIT 21.11.10: reinstalled with old client version, strictly followed sequence of updating - deleting - creating i found in more than one post. works in 1280 now, BUT, despite doing everything in Jovanka s post (http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=11084.0) again, still don t see FOV lines, lights or black tiles on map.

I updated, then made scripts folder, then updated agian for that last file, then deleted the 2238.cache file.
Running fine.

Oh, it's probably I become retard when I switch computer...
No problem with one, impossible to launch the game with the other one...
