FIXES:
- Fighting NPCs in Hub (Water Merchants).
- Permanently visible quest locations.
- Hinkley: reputation drop at Hinkley while shooting member of an NPC faction; ammo for HK90.
- Various "busy" NPCs.
- Radiation was dropped on death. Now radiation stays after death.
- Bug with stealing timeout fixed.
- Stealing XP, now given in 5,10,15,25... pattern.
- Unusable holodisks.
- Homesteders/faction farmers that turned into guards.
- Radio: distress signals, display of ON/OFF buttons.
- Small TC fixes.
- Typos, holes in walls, minor things.
- Follower getting stuck on worldmap after entering an encounter, will rejoin shortly after. This is primarily a fix for http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=4417.0

FEATURES:
- States of function keys (F6 F8 F10 F11) and ~awareness command are now stored in FOnline2238.cfg and automatically read when the client starts (see http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Category:Configuration for detailed description). Note: this file is not created automatically.

CHANGES (WIP):
- Plasma Pistol (and extended) damage increased to 25-40.
- Minimum time for talking with NPCs increased to 45s.
- A follower that have been idling on the worldmap for 14 real-time days will be deleted (for performance reasons). If you want to logout for longer and keep them, put them in your tent or base.
- No item should require any book to be crafted

EXTRA NOTES:
- One more restructurization of data files. At the moment of this update, only the following files are required:
* faction.zip
* faction001.zip
* faction002.zip
* faction007.dat
* longhairdude.dat
* vaultboy.dat
* cablack.dat
* cablue.dat
* khancrit.dat
* othercrit.dat
* balddude.dat
* cadesert.dat
* vctur.dat

IMPORTANT:
- Clear the cache after the update is complete.
- If you get the message "Downloading data/scripts/client_parameters.dll. Size: 23 kb.
Unable to save file." in the update, create the folder scripts in /data.

Extended time for trading, that's very nice, since the last one was a bit too fast.
But no need for Guns N Bullets anymore ? What is the reason behind this change ?
Also getting the "error while receiving data" while downloading the client_parameters.dll
(I made that "scripts" folder in my data folder)

Same problem here:

Updated the client successfully, and cleared the cache... nothing.
After 1 second the client crashes.

I have run the updater a second time, now i got this error message in the updater window:

Problem solved
If your data folder is missing the scripts folder, you have to make it by your own like Ghosthack notified in this changelog.
But do not forget to give the folder all permissions for writing actions!

I dont know if i understand... After update i need to open data and then pick all cache files and delete? Select and Supr? Or open the cache files with word for example and delete all inside? Im bad with this things but im worst to understand the "how to do" xD

There are options like Read Only and Hide
You mean to uncheck Read Only ? Or check it ?

Here just install my patch in the data folder and it should work fine if u have trouble donwloading the files.

Post original files in archive, not in exe file, as it might be milacious stuff.

I think that u need to download it, and if like an zip/rar file, "extract" it into the scripts folder (remember to create it, like in upper post said) and then, u will dont need to use the updater, cuz u have it =)

Unfortunatly that isnt enought for make my game work ._. But maeby its useful for u =)

HOW TO MAKE THE GAME WORK

1.Go to data folder delete all but default.cache
2.Create a folder called scripts.
3.Run updater again.
4.Enjoy the laggy game!

What the fuck?  That's a useless change, like anyone EVER complained about talking time not being enough considering every time you pick a dialoge it reset but for trading you have to pay tribute every 30 seconds for a reset.  >:(

This useless change is a first step to make quest dialogs to be actually readed, not being only annoying delay between you and your xp.

In unguarded towns with quest item in 2nd hand slot where some bluesuit with smg can run to you in any time you won't carefuly read whole dialogue anyway, usually just see all answer options and pick the right one, you don't need to read what he's saying anyway.

Ok, since many people are looking here in this thread, and I'm quite desperate...

I forgot my char password, checked that IRC channel recommended on Fonline Wiki - it was empty
(that one on the server with Marijuana Weed in ASCII : P)
Tried to PM some devs, no response.

Who should I talk to ? Or WHERE should I seek help ?
Seriously please help guys, I became quite addicted to this game, and I'm starting to feel like a junkie who haven't seen Jet for days...  :-\

Also I'm not posting my char name on purpose... I'm quite embarrassed by this situation : P

Hi, my character name is (name of one guy who you don't like), can you, please, give me pass? It's me! I simply forgot it!

Dev: Of couse, we also can give you all our database with all passes, may be you forgot some names of your alts, pick whoever you want!

I don't think it's possible, since when you registering your character it doesn't require any e-mail or forum-account or anything else, so it's impossible to retrieve pass.

Probably it's possible if you'll tell all SPECIAL, perks and skills tagged +if you can remember %of tagged skills +any reputation, may be it's possible, since devs should have an access to database, so they have an access to all characters. But as you said:

Ok, similarily as Michaelh139, I can't launch the game. It's just game window blink. Im running FOnline on Ubuntu 10.10, default wine installation (working up to today).

Try deleting the cache (except default), then updating. Worked for me, but I messed a bit during first update.

There are still gray tiles all over the place and the frame rate is so low that the game is unplayable for me.

Is there a fix for this?

After this update, 3D models have shadows for me! Or at least, there is something different about them. Anyway, it makes them look better than before.

There are still gray tiles all over the place and the frame rate is so low that the game is unplayable for me.

Is there a fix for this?

What log?  The screen blinks out, there's no way to copy it. (As far as I know anyway)

After you tried to open FOnline and this issue occurs, there should be a file named FOnline.log in your standard client folder.
Open it and paste it here (preferably with the method wipe mentionend - pastebin.com )

Since you've reinstalled the client does that mean you have to make the changes that were required from the last update like modifying the config file for the faction.zip thing? If you have already done it then i'm out of ideas.

i've totally reinstaled my fonline (with downloading again new client) then make all steps adviced in this thread and this log appeared:

So I dig deeper into the problem and found a solution:

It's needed to change in the FOnline.cfg file one line from PatchDatPath=fonline.dat to PatchDatPath=faction.zip. 
Now it's ok and working :)

I had same problem. If anyone still needs help, just delete all except default.cache cache files.

I still cant get this working. Did everything properly yet it still doesnt start. I reinstall both Fonline and Fallout did all updates again, deleted cache as you said - and nothing.

im dont wanna play if Bonus Rate of Fire be work only on small guns  >:(
fast shot for a small guns, Bonus Rate of Fire for a small guns... meybe all critical and other perks be work for a small guns ?  >:(

all players 21 level ho play for energy weapon, big guns and take this perk - now must create new character because perk not work ?  >:(

i'm and all my friends dont want play wishout this perks - its not fun  >:(

does anyone have an idea how to solve a problem with frame rate, couse its very slow. I even installed new client but it doesn't helped me much (i had another problem with textures after the update, but now its ok). Any suggestions?

So I don't even know if this topic is still active, but I've tried just about damp near everything to get this to work. I added a folder called scripts then it updated correctly. That didn't work so I deleted the cache files and re-updated it. That also didn't work. The only thing I could possibly think that might effect me differently than anyone else, is that Fonline isn't installed in programfiles (x86). For some reason if I install it there it doesn't show up. P.S. I made sure that the critter and master files were working. P.P.S I'm running windows 7
