trying to scroll through 20 identical sniper rifles to get to a gun you want before 30 seconds run out is infuriating. >:(This makes a very fun game no fun at all as much of it is centered around killing/gathering/looting, and then selling said items to get something you cannot find.

Raise your barterskill to increase bartertimer.

Drinking a beer will boost charisma 1 point, which affects Barter, so you can buy a few seconds that way.

And with the filters on the barter menu, it really only takes 30 seconds if you know what you're doing.

Also, when timer gets low, restart trade by Talking to the trader... this way you can loop a few times to familiarize yourself with the available goods. (Careful with this, as it is also a method used to tie up a trader while an accomplice arrives with trade goods to grab a special item and/or caps. Don't want to get PKed or Jailed from a misunderstanding.)

I have a char with 9% barter that can trade fine, minimum is 30 seconds and you can work within that timeframe.

waiting a player to finish his trade is already annoying enough. once i've waited for a player to finish for about 5 minutes, because he was "resetting" his trade. so NO to this suggestion.
this feature would be useful only if the npcs could talk to multiple customers at a time.

That suggestion is straightener to the bender. Problem is having tons of useless stuff in traders, not having too short time to trade.

Never thought about pushing. Gotta try that one. I myself just use science on them and most runs away.

i didnt know that.
i dont like scaring people off with using science or repair on them. sure they run but they generally shout "xxx is a fucking thief, dont let him near you" and you are tagged as a thief... thats not a very big deal but i dont like it.
