I look forward to the old western styles of it, I hope it will have more in it than Fallout 3. And I hope having low Intelligence opens up new dialogue, like in the original Fallouts, but I can't get my hopes too high :-\

I'm excited due to the fact Bethesda's filthy mitts are far from the development and they have the original f2 devs. I'm gonna make a spear chucking tribal as soon as futureshop mails me my damn giftcard.

Are you kidding? The third story was AMAZING, It was just so BADLY executed.

It was rather an emotional story, then a more average-common story. The problem with the FO3 story was that it was tailored to only one real person. You. You couldn't just say "screw dad, screw the water purifier, this is stupid from the beginning!" - no, you HAD to do it. Giving the player some kind of "emotional" reason to go further in the game may be good, but it limits your roleplaying. And yes, the story was BADLY executed.

i loved 3 but face it man like surf solar said the main story had no real thoughts in it just do it and u really dont have a choice on what 2 how 2 do the main quest but anyway new vegas is going 2 be better i just bought it and going 2 play it tommorow i love it allready the story already sounds better then 3. :)

I think the highlights were tranquility lane and stuff like that, there should have been more dungeons and less endless copy/paste landscape.

-You start your adventure when you leave the vault -> same as Fallout 1, although it's not really the same because you leave the vault for different reasons.
-The President is in fact a computer O MY GAD -> old cliche (maybe the first time this appeared was in the Twilight Zone?). Of course, it was thought as some kind of tribute (I want to think) but in the whole context of Fallout 3, this just sucked.
-Ending: do YOU die or does the NPC die? O MY GAD what a difficult choice to make! -> same idea as in Fallout Tactics.
-Megaton -> Junktown
-Lucas Simms VS Mr Burke -> Killian Darkwater VS Gizmo?
-New Brotherhood of Steel division -> same as Fallout Tactics
And some other things I can't remember right now. In a nutshell, the story is really cheap, it seems they just replayed the old Fallout games and took notes of certain elements they liked. Changed some of them a bit, mixed them and put the game in the market.

The game is good yes.
played 8 hours now, so far only two bugs.
Still havent made it to the strip yet.
But have had plenty of fun so far.
playing as a sneak char.
Gotta love sneak critical hehe.:)

I played for a bit yesterday, they changed most of the issues I had with f3. Very hard on hardcore mode is intense, I'm excited for a full playthrough. Oh and that badlands robot things, the singe wheel/robot torso with arms is a pretty standard old sci fi design. Hell even darkwing duck had one (http://www.poeghostal.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/gizmoduck.jpg)

3 took 3-4 years, new vegas took 1.5.
yet fo3 was still the buggiest game of the year.
ITS PRETTY OBVIOUS THEY TOOK OUT THE ENTIRE BETATESTING PERIOD OF THE GAME AND JUST SHOVED A BUNCH OF CRAP DOWN THE THROAT!...
I'm still gonna buy cus even tho 3 sucked I enjoyed it alot so with new combat and mechanics this is still gona be a great improvement compared to 3.

i allways sad that 3 was way to easy, so i started New Vegas at Hardcore, directly
i am now lvl 5, got 3 hours of play time, and the story is awsome
i usualy look at the gameplay only(i play FOnline)but the graphics are waaaaay to awsome
allso in some places(like the town burned by the red armors(can't write name, gramar problems))there is originale F2 soundtrack
i do not listen to the radios, yet,i prefer the soundtrack
i play as a basic gunner: guns,repair,survival skills, and took the last traint(idk what it does)
this game is waaaaay better than F3, and WAY AWSOMER

You should try change resolution and check it. Maybe it's work but I don't know for 100%.

finished F:NV at hardoce whit a gunner: karma++++,NCR side,lvl 21(22 after gaining last unused xp)
now i am playng whit some sort of SniperLag whit Triger dicipline and small frame,but now i got only CB and LK perk(coud not chose ohters)

Beat it on hardcore workin for mr. house. Got a very neglected ending because i didnt complete a lot of the (boring and tedious) side quests.
Trying to replay it but ehhh its a good game but its not that great... Buy it if you loved F3 and didnt get BORED of it, or else your just looking at another F3 with a few cool features. I can't even find it in me to go out and explore all the locations... Tried using the show all map marker cheat, went to some interesting sounding location, explored, fought in the arena (yawn unless I was level 5) got bored, quit the game.
Lots of stuff to do, lots of different endings (a shitload, but your overall forced to pick a "side" in the long run) but it's just not as fun as Fallout 1 or 2, or Fonline. Writing was great, theres a dedicated modding community but all the mods are remakes of F3 mods.
Yup just felt like ranting in the off-topic section... NV did have some amazing dialog though...well at times, sometimes the things people say are a bit too boring.
Lots of references to F1 and F2 in game...Hint-hint: Rose's Bed and Breakfast.

i like the fact that in F:NV all the factions are neether good neether bad(exept the fiends and House)
i mean:The Kreat Khans are just some drug dealers, and they where neglected by the NCR
The Legion has good intentions: to purghe the evil, but there ways are not that good
NCR is bringing more bad than good to the West whit there taxes
even the power gangers are just some prisoniers from the NCR, moast of them are not bad(like the ex-sherif)
the falowers of the apocalipse are the only that are relatively pure good, but they are veary misterios
and the best thing: now BoS are the enemies of everyone=>they are "evil"
so you got some restrains if you wanna play for the good of the mohavie(but for the bad,join House, not Legion)
