Title: Simple solution to crafting click fest
Post by: theyseemetrollin on October 16, 2010, 01:35:29 am
How about instead of select item, fix, done, select item and its needless clicking, you just select the item, hit fix, the alert that you've succeeded appears in the messbox instead of changing the screen and causing you to hit done and reselecting the item every time. You just select the item and spam fix. This would be super easy to implement and remove one of the games bigger design flaws.

This is probably the most famous suggestion and I agree that the fixboy is tedious. But as Kraskish already pointed out, it requires some engine changes.

The best solution for this nonsense is a mousescript, since the devs are busy and it's on the end of the pretty long To-Do list.

1. You do it once, record it, set up the higher speed and loop amount.
2. Press "play"
3. ???
4. PROFIT!

And since this cannot be tracked by the 2238 scripts and you don't overuse it (what isn't possible, since you won't have that much materials), you won't be banned.

Of course, if the developers don't counter this with click cooldown or install the frequency counter script, instead of including this feature, like it was with FOCD.
In this case, you shall be assured that the developer team actively hinders you from enjoying the game and are a bunch of extremely successful trolls causing butthurt of massive proportions at their playerbase for already over two years.

I hope it's not the case.

I can't wait for "If you don't like it, leave" posts! :D

For that the mods can chain me to a stonewall in Rocky Mountains and a floater shall eat my ever-regenerating liver every day, or they can ban me, i don't mind, Andreas  ;D
Honestly, i'd even welcome that, but they won't get me begging for a ban.

Also, SurfSolar, you're saying that we aren't allowed to develop solutions for the better gameplay in 2238 by ourselves, but are free to script our own project?

Ill say there is no problem with third party programms that doesnt give you any real playing or PvP advantages.
Its community contribution to develop addons for a game to make them more enjoyable and dont bother the devs of the game with small things. I would say a autoclicker for repeated crafting is alright, but meh.

No, I am saying that it's not really good if people say "oh god, this feature suxx0rs, devs don't do what I want, I do my own mods".

And why is that so?
If it's that bad, why do the players keep on making mods for 2238 or why is there the Tools and Modifications section at all? Interface mods, transparency mods - unfair advantage? Client-sided frame editing - illicit content manipulation? Cooldown HUD - cheat tool? Come on.
I think you were slightly displeased with default bluesuit as well, as you made your appearance complilation mod, which is pretty good, (thanks also to X'il and folks on NMA.)
That's all about modding - fit it to current needs, make it better. Well spoken, Andreas, if this tool has minimal effect on gameplay, like a little bit more ergonomy, why should the devs go all draconic on it?

Or is it just open critics on current features, that shouldn't be spoken in your opinion? Tell me please.
