Well, as everyone should know by now, the devs have put up a new Wiki for us hosted on the fonline2238.net server.

Now, seeing as the Wiki-Boy 2000 (http://fonline.scose.net/wiki/) is down (probably indefinitely) and this wiki (http://fonline.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Online_Wiki) is pretty uninformed, out of date or low on information in places, the developers need the 2238 community to contribute to the new wiki as their hands are already tied with making the game for us to play.
Now, I've given it a start and filled in some of the locations (not very detailed, mind you), but what we really need is this to become a great starting point for new players to find information about the game.
Feel free to contribute if you have the time. ;)

Yes, and that official wiki, even though just started, is best informed of them all - simply because we're using bot to fetch the data from game data files and update pages. So the item/critter properties as well as crafting recipies are updated automatically. It's still in progress, but I should note that users shouldn't update those auto-generated templates (simply because it might get overwritten):
- Weapon
- Armor
- Craft
- Critter
- More to come...

Shit showeling is 10XP and 5 caps each, only in NCR is for 10 caps ;)

i may change a lot the quest page, i don't like how quests are displayed. It's my own opinion but I don't like it. I prefer a two lvl title style so we could get a summary in the upper part of the page and no need to go to a new page to read a quest. All quests should be described on the same page. (in fact, it's the exact display of the french wiki: http://www.fallout-3.com/wiki/Qu%C3%AAtes )
But before doing that i would prefer to hear people's point of view.

I totally did, I think its great, I've added a few things here and there. Cleaned up the faq, edited a few spelling errors. Also put some quests up that i have yet to fillout completely.

No - one page for all quests stands against all wiki standard in my opinion. Plus it'd be nightmare to maintain it. Single pages + categories + one page where it's all indexed, what could be possibly wrong with that.

FOnline:2238 is beginning to have some content in it, even if To-Do list is still quite full.
Any idea of what articles are the most needed by players at the moment ? I'll make the cars one soon, but maybe there are others that are needed as soon as possible.

Maybe you could make one on enslaving NPCs, like how-to do it, what people you can enslave.

I think the wiki needs to be unlocked. I'm not the only one.
If vandalism was such a problem, require that everyone just register. After that if they do it, ban them. There will be enough contributors to fix it within a few hours at the most. I've spoken to many people who want to edit and can't because we're not approved. I know it's also to limit the amount of unfinished pages, but as it is right now, many pages are unfinished, and there's numerous typos as well as places where the contributor meant to come back but didn't or didn't have sufficient information.
I mean, it's a wiki. It's made so it can be accessed and edited easily. I just feel like the attempt to limit vandalism has hurt the wiki more by limiting contribution.

A: You must get town and go to bank. then ask banker to open account (you need 100 caps to open it)

If you want to contribute, then join #2238wiki, as written on the main wiki page.
Also, vandalism isn't the only reason for the wiki locking, in fact most of people just do very small edits, like one line for towns, and it's impossible to check everything by then and to see which articles are really done. We are then adding most of the pages to the wiki, so that users only have to add some informations, not to format the page (Updating work and not writing work, if you know what I mean).

We started to add the NPC-driven factions (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Category:NPC-driven_factions) to the wiki (You can easily visit it by clicking on "Factions" on the index). For now, there are only three : Enclave, Vault City and Raiders faction. For these three factions (more to come :) ) you can check the reputation changes when joining and leaving it.
We hope it'll be useful for you ;)
If someone has more informations about one of these factions, he can come on #2238wiki and wait for me or (But I'd prefer you to come in IRC) send me a PM.
Also, the main page has been reworked, and I don't know if it will stay like this (as a pyramid) or not, some feedbacks would be appreciated. I removed some of the pictures on the main page to add more general one, that lead to a subcategory - for example the "Items (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Items)" one. It's more intuitive like this, in my opinion.
The pyramid is built like this :
- First line : Getting started.
- Second line : Basic informations about both the player character and the Fallout world.
- Third line : FOnline: 2238's core.
- Fourth line : Others. Not the most visited categories.

I would like to ask players here to post suggestions as to what pages need to be made on the wiki. I'm not asking what things are missing, I'm asking what pages you think should take priority over others in being created.

Adding Advaned Workbench article... It took me fucking hours to realise what i had to do.
Hopefully, the article will help newcomers to the Gunsmithship art.

I see in the wiki that the first level of big gun need 5 in strength and 5 in agility. But in level 2 of that profession it's write that you need 4 in strength and 6 in agility....should it be 5 in strength and 6 in agility?

Any possiblities that factions could get access to their name in the wiki. That way they could put down rules and guidelines like "When we are controlling city x we will not kill you if you pay 25% tribute of what you mine" and things like that. Then people could use the trader in unguarded towns more if the controlling faction allowed it and would encourage roleplay. Any thoughts?

Is it possible to add page for GUI modding to wiki? There are many talented people out there who could use it. Also some small homemade changes are sometimes needed and it could help a lot. You know some list of commands with explanation, some basic rules which to follow during creation of new UI etc...

I think there is some wrong info in Instructors section of Armorer profession... there was missing instructor Simon from Scavengers camp, so I added him... but as level 1 Instructors there are Armstrong and Jenna, and I dont think, they are teaching lvl 1 Armorer... can anyone confirm?

We don't want this as it may spoil the game for people that want to enjoy trying to solve quests on thier own, it also encourages seeing quest as a just a means to an end (reward).

I guess you can add missing info, like where to accept it, but don't write how to solve it.

We add these infos :
- Who gives the quest. Where he/she is.
- Character requirements to get the quest.
- What he asks you to do, and what you have to do to solve the quest (in a few words)
- Global difficulty of the quest.
- Reward given by the quest giver at the end of the quest.
- Repeatable or not.

- Where/Who : "In Boneyard's scavengers camp - the respawn location near Boneyard - talk to the Sergeant and ask him about the howitzer right next to him. "
- Reqs : "Having at least 7 Intelligence (?). "
- What to do : "He will complain about the lack of ammunition for it, and ask you to convince their producer to give them more. Jargo is the one to talk to, as he is Adytum's gunsmith. Convince him to produce more howitzer shells, and you will get the reward."
- Reward : "300xp.".
Note that it is not a walkthrough, we tell you what to do (convince Jargo) but not how to do it.

A usefull addition would perhaps be some info about the NPC's?
so that when you see the name in another wiki page it is a link to the NPC page that has what items they may carry (in the case of vendors), if they have a dialog etch.

I just found out that the unarmed attacks (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Unarmed) page is not up to date. I have a power kick with these stats:
unarmed: 51%, ST: 7, AG: 10, Lvl: 1
According to the current info on the wiki, this attack should only be available in Lvl 9 and with an unarmed skill of 80%. Not sure where to put this info, as I don't know the minimum requirements. Just to inform that this page is outdated or incorrect.

And where you got Combat slaves too in slavery section.

I found one issue with the wiki. When creating the page with the non-standart letters in the title, like š,č,í etc., the title saves only up to the first such letter and with no body. Example: Vault Šílené Brahmíny:text, text, text. saved as Vault with no text in the body. However, if those letters appears in the body itself, it causes no problem at all.

When people say the wiki is outdated, I've noticed they are usually just referring to things like weapon stats and drugs, which are two main parts. Would it be possible to make the AHS-9 bot update all the drug/weapon templates again?

It won't happen soon espescially when some people decided to update both things on their own which means less motivation for devs to ask AHS-9 to update tables.

AHS-9 made a mistake. Who would ever think of that he could make a mistake!
