I never hear much about 3d maps in FOnline. I don't think it is possible to load 3d maps, like the Van Buren Maps.
Does the engine support it, and if so how?

As far as I am aware (someone correct me if I am wrong), the engine only supports tile based 2D maps. You can of course render static versions of 3D maps, or make beautiful background images with "background", "wall" and "foreground" layers (see the screenies from What Remains (http://www.moddb.com/mods/what-remains/images/a-safe-haven#imagebox) for example), but you will not be able to rotate or use "true" 3D maps.

So there is a way to load 3d maps?

If I remember correct, some russians used 3d model buildings. Not sure if it was really working or just for test, though.

Yeah, I've seen that too. But since you can't rotate the camera/viewpoint anyway, I don't see any advantages including 3d terrain/maps.
