Title: FOnline 2238: Requiem 3rd Session

Thanks to Rotators team for release and opensourse 2238 SDK.
Special thanks for Wipe and Ghosthack.

CBT is now opened.

It's as close a copy of the 3rd 2238 session.
What returned:
-Old Repair and Detoration system.
-Deleted Hotkeys.
-Deleted Smart Cursor.
-Deleted Followers.
-Reworked perks and their mechanics to 3rd session.
-Changes Weapon/Armor parameters.
-Deleted Anticrit chanse\roll from Armors.
-Deleted Helms.
-Changed craft list to 3rd session with timeouts.
-Deleted Recipes
-Mining system changed to old with timeouts.
-Gathering is now works like on 3rd session.
-Small fixes on diff maps.
-Merks reworked. They now don't need caps for loyality and turns back old attack styles.
-Militia now is 20 limit.
-Returned and deleted some new and old locations.
-Returned SF caravan.
-Deleted some NPC groups on WM(80'th and others)
-Returned 100% sucsess chanse to steal if NPC\Players in -hp or knocked out\down.
-Deleted caravans.
-Returned old weapon animation.
-Traits Night Person and Sex Appealed returns.
-Deleted encounters containers.
-No mode Idle timeout on WM.
...
Something else.

At this moment I need to rework quests and getting 3rd level professions.(few days)
So...CBT is starting now.
I need ~10-15 ppls who played on 2238. They should test:
-Match Sneak calculation to 3rd session.
-Match FLC to 3rd session.
-Different bugs.
-Match Perks to 3rd session.
Others Missmatchses with 3rd session with proofs ofc.(traders loot, maps changes, mechanics....).

I don't want to upset you or anything.. but I don't see the reason for some of the changes you made:

1.Deleted hotkeys: Why? Before that people were you using macros, it was introduced especially to stop that.
2. Deleted followers and you brought back Sex Appeal? Again why? As far as I remember Sex Appeal was as pointless as Blody Mess. And why disable the folowers? They were a cheaper alternative to the mercs and IMO they would add more depth to the game, make it more fun.
3. Deleted encounter containers: They were a great way for people who just started out to get their hands on some caps and good gear and it would also give you something to do other than idling in NCR.
4. The loyalty system was put in place so people wouldn't just make lvl 1 alts. with 10CH and then camp on WM with dozens of super mutants.

IMO the changes you made are for the worse. But hey, Gl with your server.

Really? 3rd session has gone. 2238 is dead.
Requiem is a Mass in the Catholic Church offered for the repose of the soul or souls of one or more deceased persons, using a particular form of the Roman Missal.

I don't want to upset you or anything.. but I don't see the reason for some of the changes you made:

1. What is now main in FOnline PvP? Fast use SS and shoot in right limb. That's why hotkeys exists, but not here. We don't have hotkeys on 3rd session of 2238.
2. They are same like Mercs, but they don't cost anything and they are respawning. And again We don't have followers on 3rd session of 2238.
3. They gives you easy farm. As I understand gameplay on 3rd sesion was: Mine-fight for resources-craft-win\loose-reutrn.
4. Yes. Just kill Master with ~40 hp and they are gone.
My main targen is making copy of 3rd session 2238. I don't care about useless things like Sex Appeal. They was and they must be.

Small hotfix:
-You can now get caps from Altruist(was demand Strength > 99)
-Outfiter now gives legit items. Reported by Koniko.
-Mitia fix. Repotred by kompreSor.
-Maximum summ of professions now is 5.
-Increased mercs\slaves\brahmins Carry Weight.
-Replication time now is 60 seconds.
-Removed Telsa Helmet variant from Outfiter dialog.
-Small scripts fixes.

http://fodev.net/status/server/requiem/ I meant this "Requiem" :) And it probably won't stay "2238" for long - as soon you'll end nostalgia stage and start improving gameplay to your/players needs... just my two cents.

I don't think it's a good idea to delete hotkeys and smart cursor...

Super Stim spamming is not user interface issue - it's a game mechanics issue.
Removing hotkeys doesn't fix anything - it only gives advantage to people using external programs.
You could make SS heal less and less hit points if they are spammed, if it's your concern.

I think optimally it should be up to players what interface they use.
It's not where game balance should be made. The right place for this is on server side IMHO...

But if you want to make a copy of 3rd session, then I guess it makes some sense.
Just don't forget to reimplement bugs that were fixed later :P

It's impossible coz FOnline uses packet encryption. I want to make defense from dll injects. But it's in future...

-Mercs on random encounters don't attack players till you not attack or you/they don't attacked.

Ever heard of kernel injectors? Kinda heard to protect yourself from those..

Also does this mean that the dupe bug will be back too? But you know what I want to really have a comeback? That launcher that the 2238 client had, where you could see news and changelogs.

Not sure if this was a joke, but why not. This is a losing game, unless you have the resources of Valve (VAC) or Blizzard (Warden), you're not going to be able to detect and prevent dll injection in any kind of meaningful way. You'll have to make it very intrusive (kernel driver) to make it at the least effective, or make it fairly simple but focus on making it complex to waste cheaters time.

In any case I don't think a lot of players would like to install such a hostile piece of code just to play your FOnline game. It's a cat and mouse game and any attempt you make to detect can be patched away, and as long as the cheat code is able to run at the same priviledge level as your cheat detection, you're not going to be able to do much. You can't control the users machine because it's not an iPhone and there's a lot of people out there that enjoy breaking anti-cheat stuff :)

Furthermore, there have been protocol reversings done before like this one (https://code.google.com/p/fonline-protocol-study/source/browse/#svn%2Ftrunk%2Fsrc), so it's far from impossible, you just need a lot of time (and/or skill) to study how the client communicates using a disassembler and at that level there's no magic going on.

I know at least one tool which allows to configure own hotkeys in nearly no time for virtually all clients, except really ancient ones~ And you don't need to care about protocol at all when working on custom hotkeys, due to way how hardcoded part of interface works. While some actions can't be done without server-side scripts, what we have in client itself is much more than enough to bring back FOCD times and all of problems it created.
