Title: Map
Post by: Cl0ud on February 07, 2013, 05:39:00 pm
Hi All

Does anyone have a copy of the fonline map with a dpi around 200+?

I want to make an A0 poster of it for the living room and the guy in print shop was worried about definition of one on wiki, only at 96dpi

I'm pretty sure the map in Wiki is alredy obsolete.

If wiki quality is not enough you can screw around in game files and merge fragments of the map into one, then make that poster. Or i can borrow you this. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kyy74dluxiux8ol/worldmap-fo1-2-complete.png

Here (http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=52363) I released the whole thing. There is no bigger one.

I always wished that someone would further tweak it / make it better, but that sadly never happened.

Then this would be bad style, as I released the map for public use and so other peeps should release tweaks of it for everyone as well. Such stuff should be free to use, as the community is seriously lacking good graphic dudes. Keeping everything locked up / not helping each other is just bad for everyone.

I assume, there is no known map version without grid?

Here's one i made from it, i fixed some cutlike squares (It is like that because map wasnt made in total but grid by grid.) no idea if there's more.

Yes the http://fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/File:2238map.jpg is not totally up to date now. Cathedral and Tobacco Farm are the only things missing from what i know.

So update might be nice.

This is really good. Great work. I was never able to get rid of the grid (not enough time and motivation to work on it).  And yeah, I made the map with copy&pasting parts from the Fo1 worldmap, merged parts together, rotated them, flipped, etc. This is also the reason why there sometimes are "strange faces" and stuff visible.

I really like what Wesan made its look real good.
I had a go at removing the grid too (also changed some colors) it needs some more work to be finished though.
Anyway here are the jpgs with and without city tiles:

Great Job, for sure thanks.

I did not have slightest idea how to put those towns there or move them. Figured out that someone who has already done something with it might be a better person to do it.
