Title: The Green, the Orange and the Bluesuit
Post by: Izual on February 09, 2011, 10:50:38 pm
(http://www.patmax.eu/I1/110209222632.png)

Mutants.
They are green. Heavy. Slow.
When one of them shows up on the battlefield, you all tremble - and it's okay if you left your friends alone.
Today, the New California Republic has to fight more than one of them. If you managed to survive around Boneyard, you certainly did spot a few of them - from a safe distance. They are remnants of Master's army. They used to be between five and a dozen at once, but they recently gathered to gain more power and the ability to travel to the North, where it is said that gold nuggets are available in a so large quantity that they are used to stone people to death. A part of this newly formed army did reach the town of New Reno yesterday, scouting the place for the rest of the mutants.

Between their current location and the northern towns, there is only one obstacle. The growing New California Republic. It's a nice state, accepting mutants into its towns. But it's not the kind of Republic that is willing to see hundreds of heavily-armed mutants travelling across its part of wasteland.

The New California Republic has sent a special Rangers squad to eliminate the threat. They have planned to set up an ambush, and to attack the mutants upon their arrival. However, the elite rangers are not enough to fight the remnants of Master's army, and to complete their goal they need cannon fodder  proud warriors to help them - emissaries of NCR state have already been sent across the wasteland to look for mercenaries.
They want YOU to fight for them. For free. Because if the mutant army reaches Shady Sands, they will most likely not just sit in Bazaar to buy extra rockets. And after having burnt Shady Sands to ashes, what do you think they will do in Broken Hills? Redding? Reno? Gordon's Gas Station? Hell, they might even find your secret hideout and smash you to smithereens.

-----

Be in Vault 15 at (probably*) 18:30 (6:30PM) GMT+1 tomorrow (thursday 10th of february).

Healing supplies, weapons, armors and ammunition (as well as Nuka Cola and cigarettes, and these only) will be furnished by Rangers. I told you they were cool !
DO NOT BRING ANYTHING. YOU WILL BE KILLED ON ARRIVAL TO EVENT LOCATION IN ORDER TO RESPAWN INTO THE PROPER AREA.

Due to probable lags, mutants' army will be divided into a few waves.

Teamkilling as well as attacking Rangers will be punished by a lifetime ban. Our dear event helpers, Event Guard and Event Ranger, will be here to make sure everyone follows this rule. They are eager to kill'n'ban troubleshooters, you're warned.
Event will also be taken in video (too laggy to be posted on youtube though) to be able to spot possible troubleshooters after the event, and ban them. In other terms, griefers, you're doomed.

Expecting you to defend your country, mercenary!
Dismiss.

*Event will be confirmed shortly before event time, both on forum and by in-game server message.

Tsssk, still so much hate for drugs.

Well, another great NCR defense event, hope it will be as good but with less peoples than the one vs anklav ;p

I do personnaly hate the concept of drugs but I'm not opposed in giving out any - I just give out those that don't create addictions, to avoid making problems. Maybe in future there will be a NPC that gives you healing/drugs you need, just like outfitter.

Server hoster changed since this one ;p Also it's defense, yes, but not as "deep" as NCR defense event was. This will be, as we say in french, a bataille rangée and that's all. :P

Cigs and nuka are not worst than buffout, they give addiction as well, and all addiction effect are same...

I dont see the deal with giving out all drugs except Jet.

All drug addictions go away, except jet, so if people become addicted its their problem and their fault, no one else's, and will go away with time eventually.

Nice, will you use the robed NPC's  to give you the gear? because I remember the NCR Defence event, you had to pick it up directly from containers, and it was such a mess. Perhaps if you use those steel rails you could make a proper line...

Yes, of course, it's like that for maybe a year now. Though they are not robes, they usually wear PA - on this event they will wear an orange CA.

Also this event is not like NCR defense. I seen it in a few posts, but it's seriously not the same, maybe except the setting. Sorry ! I won't make another NCR Defense event unless Jovanka helps :P

Something like: Gauss Pistol or Gatling ?

I have special builds for this kind of weapons and i would like to know if i can take them?

Title: Re: The Green, the Orange and the Bluesuit

Usual weapons given by outfitter. P90, DKS, .223 Pistol, Minigun, Rocket Launcher, Light Support Weapon (manually added, on the floor), Laser Rifle, Plasma Rifle (not sure about this one), Powerfist/Supersledge, grenades. I think that's pretty much all.

Plasma Rifle (not sure about this one)
As far as I remember from last "Ranger Citadel" event, spore-plant outfiters gives Laser Rifle for energy sniper and Plasma Rifle for energy soldier.

More. Stimpaks, would you spawn more of it?

Does it mean that LSW isnt endless count will be? It important for me, cause without buffout iits only good choice for me.

Post by: Izual on February 10, 2011, 06:26:42 pm
Yes, stimpaks.
I only spawned 2000 LSW on the battlefield, hope it will be enough. ;)

Event confirmed. Will start on time, that is to say, in a few minutes.

Gonna be kidding me man...

First of all, i would like to ask gms: Where is ur sense of balance?

I know it is supposed to be a event pve, slaughtery and so on but... im standing in first line, wave is created and 2-3s later 1/3 of players are off due ping thing. Common, if you want to make it fun, make creatures more powerfull but do not respawm them like shit... if the waves were smaller, but had more hp it would be, imo, much better.

Or mayby the events are only for players with "strong" cpu? If yes, then please, say it next time so the owners of weaker pc could just gtfo and do something funny on their own.

Ping... 2500 - my record... reconnecting time = +30s, several times [6+] i was disconnected... fun yea?

One more thing: Gratz! you have just created EvE event!

It was well written, so there was hope that it will be some... fun? But for me... it wasnt.

Soldiers, warriors, comrades.
We did it. We've defended New California Republic against the waves of barbaric hordes of the Unity. As the ally of New California Republic and it's armed forces, the Brotherhood of Steel shares some pictures from the battlefield. Thanks to gen. Izual, field commanders Event Ranger and Event Guard and all soldiers who proved themselfs on the battlefield. We shall not be forgotten.

+ ability to play with the famous Bozar
+ good map
+ Light Support Weapons and Super Stimpaks

- items & some bodies haven't cleaned to avoid lags
- too many NCR Rangers spawned

yeah, most cowards won killing their allies with rockets from behind. Saved 40 peoples with fa and stims, healed about 4 cripples, helped about 6 men to get up (below zero hp) and killed by allie rocket at last minute of event. Thanks a lot -_-.

my only -1550 . its bad, but my friend got -3k or lesser! :D

does this reputation affects Hub part (i mean The Heights citizens was a part of Hub in Fallout 1)? Or?

Just stay out of that section of Hub and you should be fine.
Title: Re: The Green, the Orange and the Bluesuit
Post by: Izual on February 10, 2011, 09:52:39 pm
Yes, sorry for that. I needed to make all the mutants belonging the this factions, and I have very few choices. I think not being able to talk to some of the NPCs in the Heights of Hub won't make any difference for most of the players.
NCR has the faction "bounty hunters" set, I don't even want to know what would happen if one player had low reputation with them :)

Quote

That's teamwork and I like it. Hope you still had some fun!

@headshot: Very nice review, thanks!

Easily fixable for the bodies. Not for the items though :(

I thought it would be good to have a lot of them, so that players feel like they had backup on their side. Yay/Nay? Also I know they were not really useful, but they looked nice :D

Well i was on my doctor-mercholder char. yeah i got fun and i done my duty well saving peoples and covering from sides with my lsw.

But you must dnt allow low-leveled characters enter that event. they are realy useless, cause low skills, low hp. And much peoples causes big lags. Next time please dnt allow peoples with lower then 120 hp to join, cause then realy useless - they cant survive even one rocket or burst.
That event should be for 16+ level chars (and most of them ofc got that 120+ hp).

I accidentally shot them two times because of lag combined with them going at HtH when out of ammo... So with a big gun, I obviously hit them, and they kill me ;p

I'd say it was awsome event IF mutants weren't wearing The LagArmor
(wasting all Action Points 6times and still having full magazine?... well...)
now I can say it was only good.
Title: Re: The Green, the Orange and the Bluesuit
Post by: C.J.Smiths on February 11, 2011, 05:22:31 pm
I already said about that must be done to reduce that lags: reduce number of players. Allow only leveled chars (15 or 16+ with 120+ hp) to join. Cause its kinda "battle" so here need "warriors, who can fight". Nothing personall, but i seen only that solution to reduce that lags.
Title: Re: The Green, the Orange and the Bluesuit
Post by: Haraldx on February 11, 2011, 06:32:18 pm
Event consisted of:
+ GM humor (Izual teleported 1/5 piece of players and then said the event is full (I called him a bastard for that, but then said nvm.))
- LAAAG (I do burst to a mutant, after 10 seconds, I see myself dead, some allies dead and being myself for some reason behind everyone.)
/ Mindless slaughter (It was a bit too much - in the whole event I killed 2 allies due to lag, got killed myself about 4 times, and I killed 1 super-mutant. Then I left the event due to lag and replication timer)

A: The massive lag was funny until the data finally reached the server and i suddenly hit -347 HP.

B: The NCR rangers really weren't that big of a problem, at least in the area i was, they mostly kept out of the LoF for the middle BGers.

C: The lag almost made me shoot people a few times, when i was trying to burst the centaur's that kept sneaking in, since i'd rollback to behind someone else at times when trying to shoot with my P90.

D: The the super mutant thing does seem a bit over-used, given that most events use them as the main enemy.
