so like..ive been trying to get this game working all day. using the new server IP you guys posted but i think i know my problem. i can't get the updated game because the updater won't load it keeps saying
Begin checking...
Can't connect to update server.
Checking end.
I'm also using the IP and port for 2238 but the startup screen is The Life After..idk can someone provide some guidance please?

yes server has been on and off all day and it went kur plunk hours ago.It could be awhile nefore 2238 server is up,but you can still try the tla server.

Well i just wasted about an hour. :( Thought i would try out Fonline since i loved the first and second game, and would be able to play with friends. downloaded it, and kept on thinking i did something wrong. When i hit done under the registration page it gives me a loading screen that never loads, same thing with the login. Im not sure if this is normal for when a server is offline. And whats this updater everyone is talking about? In the files i got when i downloaded it there is no updater application. Anyone know when it will be online?

No, both are different. I've heard that some poeple are uploading the latest game files right now, so then you can download them without the updater.

i redownloaded it and it worked once but i still couldnt get into the game but then i downloaded the whole game again and tried to run the updater and it wouldnt connect to server again, is the server down again?

Looks like its back on too me... sometimes it restarts just give it a minute and check, you dont have to come running with a post everytime it goes down for a few minutes.

This shows that the server is down, and its at the bottom of the main page. I cant get online and my friend cant get online. So the server is definately down. The update server i dont know.

alright :) that helped. but also the only game working is the Dx9. this may be a noob question but the other just brings up an error message telling me to contact support. i have no idea if ive installed something wrong

Either your cache is broken and needs to be refreshed (with logging into the game with random name and pw) or you still have the wrong ip in the configuration. Check out the news in a few minutes. If you still can't login now, this might help you.

Yes, if you have the TLA screen on startup, just try to login with the default login and password there.
The client refreshes then and you can connect to the 2238 server (if your net settings are correct).

Hi,
Just a suggestion. Since server seems to crash, or be manually restarded, every now and then, why not make a timer with a countdown until the next crash/reboot ? So we can avoid doing risky thing (engage town control, battles, spend points in skills, etc.. ) when next restart is close
Maybe i totally missunderstand the problem also.
PS: my english is bad so you maybe you not understand it too ^^

You don't have to make a post everytime when the server is down. You can see in the bottom of the index page what's the actual status and if you click on the image, you come to the info thread.

Hey, me and my brothers are having problems logging in.. apparently http://wasteland.spb.su/ doesn't work for shit, so we have no idea if the server is offline or not.

For what? We already have the server status message thingy. It doesn't matter why actually the server is down, as long as it shows you "Online" or "Offline".

hahaha :D but still the server thingy is not funny at all, ive keep have to wait all day everyday to even play. Why don't u guys do the server checks or whatever u do at night? when not alot of people are playing, as i figure 80% of people playing are on gmt+1 so why not do it at late night.

The worst is finishing a tough fight and then it goes down. Then having to keep trying constantly incase it rolls you back to the middle of the fight :/

Also mining for about 20 minutes, being kicked out, logging in and having to mine all over again is quite frustrating. Especially when it happens 4 or 5 times in a row.

Yeah it pisses me off that no-one ever gives out any information about server crashes...Anyrthing would be nice... even a rough estimate, or is it a crash or an update...should we be exited about new quests and NPC's etc or should we worry about wipes...the wait is so frustrating.

yeah... its a online server thing for fallout tactics multiplayer. their are evin some new maps i think.
its cool.. i never got anyone to play though i just d'led it and everyone is vacent from the server since 09. w/e............im sure their are alot of underground placese that do mulitplayer BOS tactics ...uh... well anyways, so i just read somewear that you can deleat youre old accounts? so i have created like.. 5 char's now so how do you get the old ones out? if useing alt charicters is looked down on (that is) plus i have anuther char my friend plays. thats not a alt though right.. i mean if anuther (person) is useing the char its not a alt its youre friends char... right? ...anyways, thanks for the help.

"Rollbacks" happen whenever the server crashes. The rollback was probably over an hour for me, so your position, items, etc were lost. Causes strange EXP glitches, though.

Sometimes it's just down, you know. Just because they don't step into this thread and say "it's down just because it's decided to be down", doesn't mean they don't "care about us". One of the problems of the playerbase in this game is that we expect devs/GMs to behave like perfect parents, but then we complain when we "are not payed attention to!", just like little teenagers.
Please wally, don't see this one little post as an insult or offense against YOU, because it ain't that. In fact, I don't know if I have read many posts by you so I don't know what kind of poster you really are. I just want to talk about a general attitude/behaviour/tendency.

It's like you go back in time
Lets say you go to your base, get like 6k caps, and you go to Reno to buy a scout.
Then you go and buy car and you go to your base to park it, but then server crashes, and rollback happens
you log in and your at your base again and your barely getting your caps, and you don't have car yet :P

I have searched through the forum and have not found an issue exactly like this but I am very new and could have missed it. I installed the game on my home pc and was able to update it with no issues and can still log into the game with it. I am now trying to install the game on another pc and for some reason cannot seem to update the game. I open the updater and it just sits with the message "Connecting to the update server..." and will not proceed any further. On the first pc I just updated the server IP and left the port on 2238 and was able to update the game. On the second I have updated the IP and tried both port 4040 and 2238 and still have the same issue. The status of the server says it is up...Is there anyway to check its ability to provide updates?

99% of the time it's always the same - crashed and nobody with access to server around to restart it.
Next time you can just assume this. It's up now.

I don't think I am the only one to be annoyed by the crashes though...and even more so - by the downtime.
How much does it cost to implement an auto or remote restart feature on the server?
99% of the time it's always the same - crashed and nobody with access to server around to restart it.
Next time you can just assume this. It's up now.

how about we put a dog carrier crate in the server room with Jovanka in it just far away enough that she could nakedly press the restart button when needed? (not sure why she needs to be naked, but if your in a dog cage, shouldn't you really be naked?)
