Title: Changelog 04/02/2012

FIXES:
- Sharpshooter perk.
- Verbose messages.
- Fixed advanced workbenches in Toxic Caves and Glow.
- Font outlines.
- Making screenshots in OpenGL version.
- OpenGL version fixes and workarounds for some optional gl extensions. Also read the extra notes.
- Music in D3D version.

CHANGES (WIP):
- Removed professions limit.
- Factions dogtags have now own graphics (by JovankaB).
- Added location coordinates display in base browsing section.
- Fixed campfire at City Ranger House.
- Fixed Marty in New Reno giving unlimited amount of $5.
- Silent Death no longer works with burst. Only supported weapons are those with pistol animations, and those using Throwing, Melee or Unarmed skills.
- ~freefactionnames displays name aliases, if present.
- Disabled VC Med Terminal for now.
- Added Med Terminal to V12.
- Changed Combat Armor (and its derivatives) graphics.

EXTRA NOTES:
- To provide a better feedback on the OpenGL version of the client, use OpenGL performance (http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=21431.0) thread and OpenGL bugs (http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=21430.0) thread.

IMPORTANT:
- Run the updater to obtain the new files.

Whoah! That'll cause some serious griefing!

Personally i don't care yet because of reqs of HQ compounds... but i perceive it as extreme lack of common sense to transfer crucial crafting areas to were trolling PK apes are... You force normal players to climb to their monkey tree!

How am I suppose to run the game, I downloaded the update,
but when I launch it, it just shows the loading screens,after I press ESC,it just shows a little box of logging in.
Am I suppose to run with FOnlineGL because it does the same thing

I really can't understand why this wasn't implemented from start. Crafters are already made and blueprints are spread out on 4 or 5 chars. Now, at this point it doesn't reduce alts for me. It just pushes my ragemeter up.

The other chem, bio med gel and fibre+ will be added soon enough.

There should also be another med terminal in v15, it just didn't make it for this update.

Since you're one of the few (if not the only one) with this specific problem, I'd recommend you to check out your sound configuration. Some games cause problems with specific settings and hardware, e.g. I can still remember Bioshock had such issues while Stereo Mix was disabled (enabling it solves the problem). You could search for most common sound problems with other games and hardware configurations (something like this (http://www.guide4games.com/index.php/fixes/1276-king-arthur-ii-pc-crashes-freezes-invisible-armies-crash-to-desktop-ctd-blackscreen-mouse-cursor-disappear-teleport-fix-savegame-problem-bad-framerates-sound-error-and-fixes#h6-problem-3-king-arthur-ii-has-no-sound-sound-error-sound-problems-and-sound-stuttering-fix)) and try to apply custom settings in order to resolve the issue with 2238.

Why not disable it only for weapons burst mode?  :-[
I guess it has to do with the engine limitations or is a coding issue, but this way silent death doesnt work for lets say .223 pistol or hunting rifle, which dont even have burst mode available.

How is it OP, I got 150+ damage from someone shooting magneto laser pistol....
We are not talking about 500+ hp bursts with crappiest SMG here...
It's only one time crit from sneaker and 223 is not a cheap pistol.

He is not the only one with these problems, there is an entire thread where we tried to pin down why it doesn't work for us anymore (unfortunately I can't find it right now). It stopped working for a lot of people since a certain SDK revision, so I wouldn't only pinpoint it to a PC configuration (I compared my PC configuration with others with the same problems and they are vastly different).

And yes, me (and I assume Jack and the others too) fiddled around for weeks already with different sound configurations, it does not work. The engine plays .ogg files for us just fine, all the .acm files are kept silent - that's why I assume it is NOT an issue with our respective computers.  :-\

This is win. Thanks for good fixes , as well really like that glow and toxic caves workbench fix :)

How is it OP, I got 150+ damage from someone shooting magneto laser pistol....

Normally it doesn't do that much damage , lucky crit roll i guess , as well you actually have to craft those pistols and they are not very cheap to make either , not grease gun from witch you can build cities.

can someone log in to the server? cause i can't and i've got it already updated i have that problem with small login menu in the middle of the screen and in the sulution bug section it's sayed to "press enter" and it will log in to the server and download needed info but it doesn't work like that it just says cannot connect to the server... help me.

But Silent Death just lets you make one shot and then you have to hide/rely on your other skills, that's not OP

I ran the updater but when it tries to download faction001.zip, there's "Unable to save file" error and the update stops. Needless to say, I can run the game client. Anyone encountered similar updater error?

Hmm I thought caravans got removed?

Laser pistols require quite some resources and the pesky to get electronic parts. along with the need for ammo which also requires a nonsense amount of electronic parts. Afcoarse if you have the level you could just farm mercenaries, but craftwise and for loners EW tends to be harsh to play.

Before you could have more than 1 profession, but 3 profession levels was the limit.
Now the only limit is the skills you have.

Why should they? I agree that bursters were imba, I had my one made mainly for .223 headshots (but running with gg during bug) and now they took burst and .223 and 14mm away, what made my build quite useless, with one thing I can shoot being needler pistol. But why they should nerf grenadiers?

imo removing Sd from burst completely was a mistake,. it was not so overpowerd, only the 1hex Sd burst was. plasma nades can do more dmg with SD than the burst did from range so im not sure what reason was behind this.

The reason were trolls. Trolls killing eg. black guy npc from construction ground. Trolling is pain in ass, even trolls know that. Now you have your bursters fucked up, you trolls ;] I'd just like my .223 working with SD back <3

wel if Sd wont work for burst it would be nice if you could keep it to just burst,. not gun models,. so i could      Sd single shot someone with my 10mm smg,. is lame if i have to carry 2 diffrent guns.

If you have to reinstall the game, always keep a back up of your last copy in case you need to salvage any files. It's come in handy a lot for me.

lol dude you should have know it was going to get fixed. it was a bug you should have been smart like other people and made it the way its supposed to be. also if you cant lvl another alt then thats just lazy. only takes 6-8 hours of grinding to get max lvl.

Hey thanks for mentioning you lowered the experience given from making super sledges assholes, it takes me 2 hours with a car to get 30 good metal parts. I wasted 10 today thinking I was getting 600 exp. instead I only got 133 per super sledge. Again thanks for putting that in the patch notes...

Why does anyone waste their time with this game. Besides waiting for an opportunity to ruin some ones day.

... yea i also dont get why they put down how much exp you get for crafting. crafting is a pain and now even less exp for doing it. all the devs are doing is making is harder for loners to lvl. wasteing there time. factions can just make big trip get couple hundred ores and no big deal makes up for the exp lose. loner cant do same. seems all this era all devs are trying to do is troll the loners..... no balance this era .... again.

Also it seems they changed it so that you can now lock pick a cars trunk. I have no idea what lock pick skill you would need to do that though because the Devs don't tell us shit! I've got 3 level 24 toons and now I have to make ANOTHER ONE. WTF if you don't want me using Alts. then don't make the system require me to use Alts. It is frustrating as shit!

Listen, Devs, I am sure you guys want to have a game where people have one character based on what style that player would want to play. I know you want players to congregate, meet each other and group up to tackle some of the games more difficult aspects. But how on earth are we supposed to do that if everything pits us against one another?

There is no voice chat, how are you supposed to talk to people who don't even speak your language (American's, since everyone knows English apparently). When we see other players we have to shoot or be shot, kill or be killed. There is no room for error when making your toon or you will soon find that you will be making another toon, since no one online will have that skill you are looking for.

How many Alts am I going to have to freakin make to enjoy the game? Obviously 3 is not enough! I want to play 1 character and have him be able to do everything! One character should eventually be able to master every aspect of the game. The limiting factor shouldn't be skills, it should be carry weight, equipment, and faction size. Man I'm sick of making Alts every patch.

Please , what devs do is to just increase interaction , it's actually fun to go to maripossa now organize protection etc. etc.

... yea i also dont get why they put down how much exp you get for crafting. crafting is a pain and now even less exp for doing it. all the devs are doing is making is harder for loners to lvl. wasteing there time. factions can just make big trip get couple hundred ores and no big deal makes up for the exp lose. loner cant do same. seems all this era all devs are trying to do is troll the loners..... no balance this era .... again.

I can understand the frustration that it's getting a bit harder for lonely people, but you should understand that this game is first and foremost meant to be played together with people, it is a multiplayergame after all. It was called "faction mod" in the beginning for reason.

@merlin: even though your anger is understandable there is no reason to tote insults all around.

If this is a beta, then we are the beta "testers" and we deserve as much information about game changes as anyone else on your team. If you change stuff without writing it down how will anyone know what was changed? How do you know there isn't some very obscure exploit one of the Devs is hiding for their friends in the game? You don't if they don't have to write it down.

600exp for making a super sledge was at minimum compensation for the time spent traveling around the map getting parts. This nerf is really uncalled for and COMPLETELY un-announced. You mean to tell me that I can feed infinite fruit to a kid for 5xp a peice which is the most boring thing I've even done on the internet, but when I go miles out of my way for an experience boost that is what deserves a nerf.

It takes a long time to get good quality parts especially when the Hungarians are guarding the mines with rockets and miniguns. But I did it. I got the mats, I deserve that experience. I walked the 10,000 miles. I don't want to do your crappy quests because they aren't rewarding on the 5th run through. The first time they are great  because hey every newb needs to shovel shit. But man how many Alts am I going to have to make to figure out a useful and interesting build.

I get to level 24 and say to myself "whoops, I'm a 1 trick pony"

One thing I have noticed about this game is that it's really up to the player to make it interesiting for himself. This session I'm playing with a character who will never join a faction because he is dedicated to working for himself. So far he has been a loner aside from joining hunting parties when the oppurtunity has presented itself a few times but at the same time he is very social, and guess what? I'm having fun!

I'm having fun because I told myself that I wouldn't spend all my time trying race to an endgame level. Instead I am simply enjoying the road getting there without really worrying about my pace. I'm also not wasting all my time trying to make myself an island of alts who take care of my every need, because what I really need is to get out of the house every now and then. And can you believe it, I'm still having fun! We are all responsible for our own moods/journies/fun, and I feel like sometimes some of the people playing this game just don't really know how to enjoy games. Maybe because all of us have spent so much time playing games where everything is already dictated to us that we never need to add our own creativity to a game, but I feel like that is the missing component to fonline.

merlin; in your case you just built a super sledge. The super sledge may not have given you 1000xp but imagine how much it will gain you when you hunt! and besides, if sneaking into an unguarded mine and escaping with not only your life but the materials you needed was a chore and not thrill and a reward in itself then maybe this isnt the game for you?

I don't want to be on someone else's schedule. That is the only reason I don't join a faction, I got a job, a family, a life. I don't want to wait on people for 4 hours a day. I want to get on do some shit, have some fun and get off. I'll get into the group thing when I have time.

But seriously WTF you could have wrote the nerf to sledges in the patch notes. Half of the changes aren't even explained.

Since you're one of the few (if not the only one) with this specific problem, I'd recommend you to check out your sound configuration. Some games cause problems with specific settings and hardware, e.g. I can still remember Bioshock had such issues while Stereo Mix was disabled (enabling it solves the problem). You could search for most common sound problems with other games and hardware configurations (something like this (http://www.guide4games.com/index.php/fixes/1276-king-arthur-ii-pc-crashes-freezes-invisible-armies-crash-to-desktop-ctd-blackscreen-mouse-cursor-disappear-teleport-fix-savegame-problem-bad-framerates-sound-error-and-fixes#h6-problem-3-king-arthur-ii-has-no-sound-sound-error-sound-problems-and-sound-stuttering-fix)) and try to apply custom settings in order to resolve the issue with 2238.


None of that works. I get music but no sound effects. I'm stumped uninstalled, reinstalled you name it. I was told by another dev that this was a bug.

Finally someone else on the forum that knows how to have real fun in the game.

I get tired of being urged to power-level my characters by my gang-mates.  Tired of hearing it and even thinking about even more so doing it occassionally. ( though I never finish )

Not a single lvl 24 yet. ;>

Time for people to take a chill-pill and have fun.  Just try not to let other shitters (including me) ingame that kill you and take your stuff etc etc.  "try"  <<<  Don't expect everyone to hold onto their sanity. :D

Also weak healing powders now give 3xp instead of 8xp, damn it's going to be slower to lvl now - I used to really enjoy them as I us them up regular during lvling as I've only got 1 perception it doesn't matter about -1 perception.

Instead of leveling up with crafting (I did it once with crafter alt, it took me few months to reach 21th level with it), grab this Supersledge and go pwn molerats - five of them gives you 600 XP and doesn't even require 2 hours of digging rocks :>

I haven't even seen a huge faction, most factions aren't pk'ers and are quite nice. Who complained about getting owned by huge factions? I'm not owned by any faction, but I'm sure the faction "owns" all of its members. I'm not a fan of group think or what it does to people.

Yeah I would love to see end game content so I could watch it go up in a poof of smoke in the next wipe. I was just running around talking to all the NPCs so I could report incongruities. But its kind of difficult to find bugs when there are no descriptions of how anything is supposed to work in the first place.

Actually most games have a guide detailing how all of its systems work. To get a game published by Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony that is a requirement.
I realize this isn't any of those but "Patch Notes" should thoroughly detail each change. If it doesn't then that is sloppy, and mistakes and fights are inevitable, like the one we are having now.

I can get to level 24 by myself with no problem, getting to level 4 however is slower than the speed of smell and equally as interesting.

Not really, they give you the basics. Most manuals that come with games now, are like 2 pages. You can't explain the breakdown of the fire rate, damage per shot to each body area, and etc. of every gun in the game in 2 pages. That would fall under >Detailing how all of it's systems work.

No, you and others may have been the reasons for people to create a thread to discuss the feature, but it was the feature itself that caused the thread to lead up to the point, where it was deemed necessary for change.  For a good reason.

wasn't completely removed.   They completely removed the use for bursting (consequently at the moment all guns with the smg sprite) and you can still use pistols, and later on, 223 and 14mm once it gets fixed, which will kick alot of ass still.

Your crying over spilled milk when there's still 3/4 a gallon in the jug.

(even if your a silent death burster build and nothing else 14mm and 223 pistols will more than make up for that, and assuming you have 3x brd, you will have +7 damage!  Multiply it by however much from criticals and its a decent boost, and you'll always get crit from back with or without aim. :P

SD working on smg's was a bug , it got fixed. Deal with it.
I already did. But I'm complaining because I didn't know it was a bug(only few participated in CBT), didn't know it's going to be fixed, made a SD burster. As I said, I have the right to complain.

Choosing to take a novelty build - invisible bluesuit that can do 500+ damage with
cheapest SMG should bell a ring for experienced player like you. You traded the joy
of having OP character for the risk of having it nerfed eventually. It was your choice.
You can always play in a smart way and avoid builds that look borked.

It's a "beta" (more like alpha, but whatever - the point is, it's not finished game).
Changes are part of the development process. And yes, the changes can be painful.
I understand why you are upset, but I think everyone who has been playing for
some time experienced the same thing, many times. Otherwise, how would devs
know that builds aren't balanced properly? ::)

Yes, yes, you are right, it was overpowered. That's why I said it should be nerfed, but not removed completly(the bursts, don't tell me about single shots please).
Cap the damage? Divide it if it's coming from a burst? Use another critical tables while bursting? All those possibilities.

By the way, 500+ dmg happened very rarely :F That's what professional players remember the most, not taking into account the frequent 60dmg bursts(criticals!) that I remember very well.

Not everyone using forums and reading it often. I understand ppls rage if I would took BRD I would be raged too, but Im reading forums from time to time so I dodged that :)

Haha, how many times I have said I created my character before developers staded anything, eh, this is getting tiresome... Please end this argument. It's irritating that someone doesn't read carefully and joins the conversation.

I hope what you're saying about assault rifle is true, because p90 bursts are horrible. Have fun :)
It's still harsh, since if you don't kill this big gunner in your first 1hex burst, you will get annihilated, unless he's lagging, has very bad reflexes or whatever. Also you won't have the time to hide after your move when there's more than one person, so it's pretty much a kamikaze. Still better than nothing :F
