About Caves in random encounters
« on: October 05, 2010, 08:29:37 pm »

Hey, Dog here! Since i started to play this game, many times i have found caves in random encounters. 95% of the times i have found nothing inside, but yesterday i encountered with a NCR group (i think they were so, brown armor dudes)

They didnt attacked me, and i saw the cave. I entered and i saw a bunch of condoms in the ground. Interested by the latex treasures, i got deeper in the cave and i found some mercenaries with real bad ass shotguns. I killed some of them and i looted. HK Shotguns in a very deteriorated state, but hey, they were free!

I sneaked in to a safe position inside of the cave. i was sure that inside there were more Mercenaries like those, but i turned off the game (F**king windows update stuff) and when i got back to the game, i was directly on the World Map. I was wondering if anybody has encounter the same like me. Maybe this is very common, but my character has LUCKY 1 and well, all this about special encounters is very interesting.

Share your experiences if you had some, i like to know how variety those "random situations" are.

P.D. (It was a little bit creepy to find CONDOMS in a cave full of men, just that) xD

There's usually condoms in caves, if there's anything at all.  I always check caves.  I find that deathclaws and cannibals are the most common things in caves, but I've hit those merc caves too.  Centipedes are fun to hit.
Once a found a Louisville Slugger in a cave so.... I would suggest checking all of em.  Usually if its got something, you will notice pretty soon after entering it.

Heh. Bummer.  All cave critters have a delayed reaction time.  Helps to escape when you see 4 deathclaws, for example.

Yeah, they're all deteriorated now.  It's been that was since pre-wipe, but I don't remember how long.

H but i turned off the game (F**king windows update stuff) and when i got back to the game, i was directly on the World Map.

If you wonder how you got to the worldmap it was prolly caused because your char was stuck in walk mode and the mouse pointer was stuck in certain location, walked out of cave and then out of the cave encounter map. Happened to me many times when I play in windowed mode and choose some other program, then noticing that my char is walking on its own.

Based on evidence collected from various sources by trustworthy attendees it is undisputed veritability that the land ravaged by atomic warfare which caused extreme change of the ecosystem and environmental hazards can be considered unpleasant, rugged and unforgiving.

Its possible to found there some  bandits and raiders who wielding 14mm, 10mm, Combat Shotguns, Rippers, Clubs, Crowbars, knifes. Also very rare dead bluesuited adventurer with 2mm EC(only heard) or Flamethrower with 2 kinds of fuel (encounter him one time).
You can try to search caves for bottlecaps in 1 unit, empty jets, shovels, rocks, white flowers and of course condoms(remeber green one with phosphorous green dye are pretty rare [Monte quest in Adytum] ).

I had one of those once, he's not in bluesuit, he's in a marauder skin.

"Traveler" - leather armor skin - minigun + 120 jhp + 120 ap ammo. Someone said it's pretty random what loot you find on him.
