Free For All Event #7 (Low-tech)
« on: September 01, 2010, 02:32:56 pm »

Today, at 15:00 (3pm) GMT+2 will happen the seventh Free For All Event (Meeting point in New Reno Stables or Vault 15, don't be late!).

This one has several improvements, that make it very interesting for everyone:
- For players, because it will be quite new.
- For GMs, because feedbacks about this event will be very important.

IMPROVEMENTS
  • Rather than high-tech outfitter, the brand new low-tech outfitter is in use.
  • Map used: Raiders' base.
  • Due to the full wipe that happened a few days ago, the balance is improved and everyone should have equal chances.

Feedbacks about low-tech outfitter, map and balance between fighters are much appreciated.

Edit: Event is over, video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX-IXqMb7wI

Besides that a few players had a pretty high level (221 HP after 2 days, holy cow...) there are 2 problems:

  • Snipers have a huge advantage against the other classes
  • The consequence is that the snipers stay in a corner while the other ones have to camp in a tent.

A map without such an open area would be better imo.

E: Since it's a FFA there should be a punishment for teamping up. It's no problem when I have to fight against 2 guys, but no chance for me against 5 to 6 people.  :-\
E²: There should be an option that you get teleported to NCR or Modoc. (or another northern town)

There will be some videos. I recorded some stuff...

But yea you could feel how unbalanced it was. I thought about some random nick change after every respawn or just no nicks at all. Then it would be FFA not "Hey! let's gather a team, and own everybody who comes out" (HLGaTaOEWCO). I'm not sure if that is possible.

- One thing to make Medic's life easier: After choosing gear-set from NPC let NPC heal WEAKENED off players.

- Barrels instead of boxes in start location.

- Opening cave would be fun camping spot.

- People shooting others at spawn location without any reaction from guards.

Hmm, no, not SMG - you can burst with it. About respawn, talk to the outfitter to restore your full hp.

  • Snipers have a huge advantage against the other classes
Let's hope it's due to the low levels. But on the other hand, maybe giving to Small Guns some low-range gun instead could solve balance issue (BG: 3 hex; Melee: 2; Throwing: 15; EW: ~15...).

A map without such an open area would be better imo.
Roger that.

I agree, but it's impossible. That's why FFA can be TFFA too.

There is, talk to the robot.

I'll ask devs about it.

- Barrels instead of boxes in start location.
Will be after next update (barrels are bugged at the moment).

Thanks for comments!

About what I said. This is impossible?

After losing team member it would be harder for them to re-assemble on the battleground.

Sorry, I somehow jumped your post in the quotes :P

I thought about some random nick change after every respawn or just no nicks at all.
This would be best solution and has already been discussed a thousand times, really :p But it's a too big change, and would required, I think, a lot of work from devs. It's just not worth it.

Anyone wants to add something?

IMHO you shouldn't do events so quickly after wipe. Not everyone is a no-life to get lvl 21 in 2 days, and as Winson Wolf mentioned, some people actually had it - the game was not fair. Really, that's just too fast. You should wait a little...

Don't participate then, thats the best solution. :>

What about people who wanted to participate and did participate, but they were at a big disadvantage because they were lower levels(less hp, perks)?

There was an exploit. I was standing with hunter rifle in right down corner of the map and could shot all 10hp guys when they tried to pick up gear right after respawn. They just fell with  minus something hp . Guards didn't react.
I was acting asshole for test purpose. Then logged off.
