Awesome. That's one of the greatest ideas to promote radio.

Cool idea so i can track people down and kill them :)

Edit: To expand on my somewhat small minded responce, i can see somehting like this being extremely useful. For example famring, i have small frame and low st build so while killing is somehthing im adept at i cant carry shit. using this feature on a freindly channel i could broadcast my position and my freinds high outdoors pathfiner packrat charcter could come collect the loot :)

Really Really good idea, ty for sharing :).

Thats why keeping radio channel in secret would be crucial ;)

Guys, there's a problem

I've been thinking for a while and its obvious some corrections must be done

IF combat is in RT - its good as it is

BUT if it's in TB then we may end up having legions of people in one fight, therefore while fighting in TB and asking for help a green dot cannot show up - instead of making a dot, radio would give your team members(with radios) your coordinates

True. Reinforcements should also need a person with high ODMen to find the 'lost soul on the desert'.

- This is Bravo Seven, This is Bravo Seven. I'm here, near a big pile of rocks! Need a fire support. Fast! Where are you, team?!
- Which one pile, Bravo Seven? We see a tons of them here.
- This one... one... one on the sand! You know! Hurry up, I've got only two magazines left..
- Okay, we see that pile on sand where you are. Stay calm. We're coming... *switch radio off* ...back home, boys. Sarge, place Bravo Seven on M.I.A. list. And somebody find me something to drink.

why not just ask on radio if he is on TB? or if you want to gank random people, then sorry - take the risk...

It's not the risk - don't you see that in a TB combat if any one could enter it there will be dozens of people and such fight would be endless! Later resulting in a nessecity of calling some GM for help to change it into RT or ending "encounter"

Because you cannot enter encounter fights via green dot

Great idea. What if there were two empty data fields somewhere on the map interface in which could be entered any coordinates to represent x and y on the map grid. And when you enter a square your pipboy or something [GPS? topagraphical map+compass?] can tell you the exact x,y coordinates of your location. Then you just tell your mates on your channel what your location is by x,y coordinates and it is up to them to enter the coordinates into their map interface to find you. This might be a little easier for the dev team to impliment. I am sure there is already some sort of coordinate saving system in place for the tent system to work.

EDIT: This could be useful for a lot of things since you can stop anywhere on the map if your char is too weak to get into another fight or wants to stay in a mining location to keep mining. I dont really see this working out too well for combat support though. I think the battles happen a little too fast for back up to respond and arrive on time. Travel on the map is just way too slow. The fight would be long over by the time they got there. But perhaps their stuff could be saved that way? If the backup could use this to locate their corpse{s} and salvage some of their group's supplies.

Yeah, part of me thinks doing it via coordinates would be easier. Hell, how about if any two players enter the same square in the map they're guaranteed to encounter each other? Or if they pass by each other while travelling?

And yeah, I think combat is too fast for backup to work. Unless we gave doctors defibrillators (shock paddles) to bring back their buddies if they get there before the replication timeout. I like the idea of emergency medical teams/radio channels. Hell, even good samaritan groups helping out people on a public '911' channel. And then getting ambushed by PKers. Damn, that sounds fun. I now want to be a heavily armed wasteland paramedic. Turning up, guns a-blazing and electrocuting people back to life.

Slight bump to pose the question to devs, would this type of mechanic even be possible?

Awesome idea, Grosq!  ;D

It would bring much more player interaction in the Wasteland. Great stuff, man.
Also, i'm all for for Wasteland Paramedics.

Or just craftable flare? If you use it and drop on a map, the chance of being found rises.
