Reputation - one more time...
« on: August 19, 2010, 06:14:34 pm »

Hi guys

I’ve got a problem with understanding some mechanics of reputation system.

1.   Witch critters should I kill to gain rep in particular organizations? In FoWiki I saw “Critters table”, but it’s empty (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Reputation).
2.   If I understand, then killing critters can raise rep only to 200 points. How can I go further?
3.   How much trading raise my reputation? How high can it go this way? Is it raising rep in whole city, or in part of it (ex NCR Rangers + New California Republic Citizens; Hub Citizens + Hub Criminals; New Reno Citizens + New Reno Families; etc.)?
4.   Does barter skill raise amount of gained rep by trading? If so, then how much?
5.   If I do join Raiders (for example), then I’ll lose a lot rep in Vault City, BUT it will goes up in few days to ~-200. Can I speed up this process by killing everyone in Raiders base (without leaving this faction)?
6.   Is there an option, to check to witch organization other player belong? Or do I can check his rep in my organization?

peace

This was bugging me instead of using Witch (magical harry potter kind of shit) its which, also if you want to you can always choose to leave the raiders faction after you join it and have your rep go back up with factions, use the wiki and look up raiders.

Some answers to your questions:
1. I don't know exactly, but killing Slavers brings your reputation up with some factions, killing Enclave bring it up with BoS, and killing BoS brings it up with Enclave, I think.
2. 0 points, not positive 200. The other way is to join a certain NPC faction. Having good reputation really has no good affect though, unless you are Idolized, which I believe is impossible except for Vault City faction.
4. I don't think it affects it. It only affects time you can barter at one time.
5. Killing raiders in the northern base will bring your reputation up with a lot of factions (not above 0), last time I checked. But only in the base, not in random encounters.
6. No, there isn't.

NPC factions are going to be re-done in the coming update, it's been said, and the mechanics will probably get changed around a lot anyway.

Sorry for that. English isn't my primary language (as for most people of this forum/game), and i really don't use it often :/

@ Dishonest Abe
Thanks for answers. And yes, I was trying to get idolized in some faction; From what I saw on wiki, it’s possible to have 1500+ rep in some of NPC-driven faction, and its easy. Join Raiders, up reputation in NCR Rangers to 0, then leave Raiders (NCR Rangers +850), and finally – join BoS (+1000). It’s a way to get idolized in few factions, but with NCR Citizens (my main goal) it will goes up only to 1250 (or 1450, it depends on 0/200 in my 2nd question).

Hm, and I really think that I already read whole wiki… most of it – few times ^^

Killing raiders in the south base ups your rep the same way as the northern base.
I don't know which one is easier to do some killing.

So you have to join the raiders, get -2000 rep in NCR and then kill them?

Slavers up your rep by 1 for every kill, raiders do 20 with certain factions.

What I don't get is why you can't just kill Khan Raiders in random encounters, I think that should have the same affect as killing them in the bases.

I was going to, but I just start to wonder – what if killing them in their base will be much quicker than wandering on the map. So I asked.

I need to join them to get 3rd lvl of SG. But I also want to be liked (very) in NCR. Some want to be rich, others want to kill a lot o newbis, and I want this ;] And yesterday I finally found a way to get 1500+ in most of factions, but in order to do this, it’s still needed to go up and down in other factions – much time needed ;/ Much thinkin’ need to be done in the fastest possible way.

@ HertogJan
Thanks.

No, you misunderstand me, sorry. By "you" I meant anyone – currently only killing Raiders in the actual base gets you Reputation, and killing them in random encounters doesn't bring your reputation up. I don't like that  >:(
