Hey guys, I recently picked up Fallout 2 and a friend of mine told me it was online.  I downloaded 2238 immediately, and I must say that everyone has made me feel welcome so far.  I do have a few questions though, like-

1.  Who is this Voland guy?  He turned into a giant ant and attacked me! (For 0 Damage?).
2.  Why is it that some people I guess 'grab' other people in the ass, then get shot/killed, etc?

Anyway, I hope to have a pleasant time here.  I hope you guys are all nice and cool, and Dahack, if you're out there, thanks for helping me a lot.  This game is most promising and I can't wait to play more.  I've checked the Wiki and such and you all are saying there's a wipe going on.  Why would the developers keep such information to themselves?

Ah so much to be seen.  I'll be seeing you guys in the game, I'm Derrik Jay, Level 3 so far.

1. Game Master. You can get more information about the staff from here.

2. Chances are, that they are stealing from another player, and then failing the steal, thus making him unprotected for his crimes. The thief can be killed when (s)he is unprotected.

I've checked the Wiki and such and you all are saying there's a wipe going on.

Rumors about wipe will always be around when one session has gone for some time (in this case especially, as this is the longest season so far).

Oh really?  So if some guy does that to me, how do I know if he's failed, or succeeded?  If he does fail, I'm simply allowed to bust a cap in his face and the NCR don't care? (Or whoever is guarding 'The Hub'.

That's insane.  I guess this just enforces the idea that the wastes is rough.

Nah, GM abuse is fun (Rusty for the win!). You never know when and what GMs will do. GM abuse is actually more fun than those events.

So if some guy does that to me, how do I know if he's failed, or succeeded?

Check your message box, sometimes the guards will say something like "Hey [your name], looks like [thief's name] is interested in your stuff". If that happens, feel free to blow out the brains of the thief.
