I have no idea about building a game economy, but what I've heard is that things that absorb caps from the economy (base buying, professions, etc.) help to prevent inflation by limiting the amount of available money ingame. If this is the case, then your suggestion goes completely against what the devs are trying to do here.

Maybe Jacob wants to spare some caps for rainy days and resist the urge to give away all his real money for useless crap.

Indeed, there was a couple of suggestions like these earlier, mostly concerning merc purchases though.

I would say a great deal is lost in random encounters for a lot of people. Maybe a portion of the money from taking professions could go into his market?
