Best Silent Hill game?

<< < (2/6) > >>

Badger:
I found them creepy as hell, but I'm easily disturbed. I only played two and three, only actually finished two.

Probably the most atmospheric music I've ever encountered in a game - I can't think of a game that would suffer more than Silent Hill from no music.

I always wanted to see the film that's supposedly a huge influence on the SH series - Jacob's Ladder. Just never got around to it.

I meant they are more "creepy" in a "sick" way, not with so many cheap stings like in Resident Evil e.g where you easily can analyze the tension and know "*yawn* - oh, am I supposed to be scared? Now? *Zombie Cracking through a door* - Sigh." etc.

That's what I meant - the silent hill games provide more a unknown threat, you can't tell what thing XY is, when things all of a sudden turn into rusted, dirty shit etc. Thats more appealing to me then easily explainable stuff..

Badger:
Yeah, I should've said disturbing rather than creepy. But I think even though they use the same mechanics, SH is more genuinely disturbing - I think Resident Evil was more about the survival part of survival horror. RE strikes me as a B-Movie turned video game. Gory and fun, but with no real depth.

I did enjoy the first era of Resident Evil games. Even though they were clunky, having to deal with stuff like ammo conservation always appeals to me in games. I want a zombie game that focused on survival as much as killing zombies. Setting up a safehouse, scavenging for supplies, helping or exploiting other survivors. Maybe we'll get one eventually.

Lexx:
Reminds me of ZRPG from DoubleBear Productions.

Also, there is "Urban Dead". It's a text based Zombie-Survival game etc. If you don't bother not having awzum graphicz it may be something for you. : www.urbandead.com/

Memo to myself: I am using "etc" far too often etc.
