[POLL] More expensive professions

(1/6) > >>

Archvile:
Let's face it. Getting a third level of a profession (where available) is a mere formality. You just need skills and 9000 caps. And the result is that the wasteland is swarming with highly skilled experts and you trip over top equipment (again).

What I suggest is to change the 1500-3000-4500 cost progression into something more like 10000-80000-160000. Now, I've just started playing again after having a break since early October, so I don't know how much money flows around. Maybe these prices should be even higher, I can't tell. But that's just an example of what scale of change I'm thinking about. I'm talking about gun and armor crafting professions, the other ones (Demoliton Expert, Doctor) should be treated more lightly, as I guess, they aren't that popular and don't have such a big impact on economy. But still they should be harder to get too.

For some it might seem extreme or absurd to pay that much. But think about it. Why would Enclave or Raiders sell their high-tech knowledge to every random dipshit for next to nothing? Reaching that top level of expertise should be a renowned feat. A goal in itself.

It would make cooperation and trade more important. Gangs would have to plan how to spend their funds. Highly damaged weapons scavenged from encounters would become more valuable resource to be saved for use at a right time. There would be more lower tier weapon fighting altogether. Just as it should be in the wasteland. But at the same time, door for reaching those high-end weapons would be opened for anyone who's dedicated enough to get them.

What is very important, it would impede crafter-alting. Want another alt for yourself? Be ready to spend another quarter million.

This change of course would require a wipe. I heard some rumors about another one nearing. But whenever it will be, maybe it will be worth to try something new? This change would cost you, devs, no effort. Only a will to experiment. There have been three wipes so far I think, and it's always been the same. Laser rifles, miniguns all around. Maybe this time, it could be normal for at least a while.

Not every gang is doing the Town Control Thing whole day to get enormous amounts of cash. ;)
Seriously, I agree with you that it's too cheap, but your suggestion is TOO much, the great gangs etc. can afford this, people who not play the game whole day will suffer even more than now.

Szef:
That will kill single-players. Results: big gangs (10+ people) controling northern cities gonna gather needed amount of caps and achieve [3] level technology 20x times faster than anyone else. Think about it. Nothing will change in case of big groups, it's just a 1 or 2 days of delay for them. A month for poor singles. However, living on wasteland is harsh. But it's also a MMO game i think?
