Radio comunication while radio in inventory

would make for a change of pace really, instead of paying attention to IRC, always found that to be a bit in the way really, if radio comm channels would be used globally, and you being able to hear them in inventory, one would never really be alone (channel 2 for ragespam and insults to your mother FTW)

or even more than that...

1. GLOBAL
2. TRADE
3. Local (near towns)
4. Help channel

etc.

The way I look at Radios having to be in your inventory is that it only takes away from your combat.
To explain my other post, if you are in a big faction, you are probably using some sort of chat program.

Even if you aren't using voice and are just typing in the chat program, it is a LOT easier than using a radio. This just gives a disadvantage to people that don't use that. The only thing that you would need it for in-game is to make a distress call, and that is why I said that it should only have to be in your active slots to make a distress call, since you can't make a distress with a chat program.

Would be nice if that depended on the actual distance from the source of the message. Don't know how this would work out in terms of resources required to handle so many channels, though.

Though it would be an awesome addition for new players. It is a communication venue, and communication is currently rather limited in-game. Given that FO is meant as multiplayer experience, this alone would greatly strengthen the game's appeal - as already mentioned, particularly to a new player.

Since it is something entirely optional, it would not force undue socialization on those that are not interested in it.

i'd actually like that one can pay attention to the radio even when in the inventory, would stop grinding for rep getting boring too fast...
