Shouldnt Knives Cut?

why can i not change my regular old knife to the use on mode so i can cut some fiber? any one know? it will only let me thrust and swing? Whats up with thattttt?

Hold the mouse down over the Orange Plant that you want to extract the fiber from and choose the backpack icon, now choose your knife. You will extract 2 x Fibers and gain 2 minutes of Cooldown.

Jeoshua:
For a dose of reality, try to cut down grass by swinging a knife at it... doesn't work so good.  You've gotta apply the knife to it in a deliberate manner.

But otherwise the above advice is correct.
