Caravans should be REAL vendors

Is it me, or are all the caravans in the wasteland have shitty stocks?  ??? They have only a basic small gun like 10mm Pistol and some very little amounts of ammo on the barter screen. That's just ridiculous, and those encounters seem totally useless, other than killing them all for the guns and xp. And that's not a "caravan" should mean to a player..

What I would recommend, that caravan master should have a vendor-like (or even bigger) random stock (with a decent amount of bottle caps) and maybe he could be even a distinct type of vendor (i mean like, a "big gun" or medical stuff" merchant)..

OK, now the question which comes to mind is "Then why shouldn't I just kill them and take all those stuff?". Again, it will be like the vendors in cities, caravan masters should also be "not lootable". I know it's illogical but if we are more concerned about an entertaining game play than realism, then this is my humble idea..

It'd be a refreshing touch to the game's economy, and should solve the "roaming around all the damn towns of this godforsaken wasteland to find some bottle caps and/or a less deterioted gun/armor for my endless trouble." issue.  :P

As much as I like they idea... unless you can loot their initial gun and ammo, and all the gaurd's guns and ammo etc... I wouldn't vote yes.

caravans don't carry anything because they are already farming targets just for their weapons.

No, guns and ammo *must* be lootable of course. That's why I emphasized only Caravan Master to be unlootable.

I agree, the weapons and supplies the merchant had to sell wouldn't be lootable,
but only the basic gun she was weilding and the little bit of ammo for that gun would be lootable.

Or put all the loot inside a locked caravan,  so you have to have someone with Lockpick to unlock it.
Maybe the high level caravans could be trapped with explosives, so the whole cart explodes if you don't have the appropriate skill. Kinda encourage the lockpick and explosive skills.

thats an awesome idea but the whole caravan cart shows up on world map when it stops rule would apply, thus making your loot fest turn into an ahh shit i just got a rocket in the kidney-fest which is less easy but more fun/stressfull.

Hmm, thanks for contributing my idea. Yeah that would be possible but it should require a GREAT lockpick skill like %150 or so..

Caravans main goal is to move from one city to another city, not to go in the desert to trade. That's why, imo, they shouldn't even trade their goods with you.

Caravans main goal is to mvoe from one city to another city, not to go in the desert to trade. That's why, imo, they shouldn't even trade their goods with you.

They move for sake of what? TRADING wooops, they have items and can trade as they do when reaching a town. If not devs should erase the Trader and add another guard :S

That's because they want to sell their stuff to shopkeepers in towns and shops restocking is due to caravans. No shopkeeper would want to deal with a caravan that always comes empty handed because someone bought their inventory on their way to the town. If I order a pizza, the pizzadelivery guy just doesn't sell that pizza to some random dude he meets on his way to my house unless he's offered ludicrous prices.

yeah but they dont order the goods, the caravans travel in hopes that they sell anything to anyone. if i got the caps you got the goods, thats the law of the wasteland.
