WARNING: ACTUAL OFFENSES BY ORIGINAL POSTER IN STARTING POST ARE EXAMPLES NOT AIMED AT ANYONE please DONT BAN ME MODERN GULAG

I would like to start this thread with an obvious statement, a mere reminder, that this game, accordingly to its rules, does not allow racism.

Some of us may not have the best opinion of at least one country, whose people might also happen to play this game.

Assume, that anger gets the best of us and we offend another player in this game and now they are threatening you with a ban. Here is where I would like to expand my thoughts.

If we have called someone a nigger or towelhead, have we commited racism if we are exactly what we have called someone else?

Some people do not realize, that discriminating a nation is not racism. It is xenophobism (xeno - foreign). I do not recall that this game would forbid xenophobism in its rules, but let's assume that it does for the sake of this discussion.

Moving on, would we be xenophobic if we would've discriminated players of same nationality as ours, saying things such as "begging romanians", "fat americans", "poor poles" or "drunk finns"? I don't think so, because we are not discriminating anything that is foreign to us.

Ladies and gentlemen, what do you think? Can we discriminate people not foreign to us for whatever reasons and get away with it?

As long as it is meant in a more funny, "buddy"-esque way, it's not bad calling a few persons ingame "those ... poles ;)" or so.
When it comes to heavier racism or such things, it gets punished.

i think most of racism or other ism is just trolling taken by people too serious, im not saying that its good even in that case but still some people should relax and enjoy game more instead of listening to what people say ^^

If no one would care and watch what people are saying, even if it is just "trolling" we'd soon have an ever greater mess.

Most of the times I call Polish people "Those damn polacks", Americans "Bloody f***ing yankees" and Germans - thats easy, just "Damn Nazis"

Why? Cause I don't care - When I play the game, I play among *friends/people I like/people that know me enough* that know my intentions and realise that I dont mean to offend anyone. I do it "for lulz" cause you can only laugh about racists etc - they are just stupid - it comes with beeing funny very often. So yeah - you can "hear" many different hate-words, but it doesnt change a fact, that I dont really care who I play with as long as they are nice people.

On the other hand - I might have just lied in the sentence above. Actually i tend to pull the trigger more often on random encounters, when i see russian players. But i see it that way - the fact that we speak in totally different languages and cannot understand each other since the beggining makes both of us more eager to fight. So the reason is not "cause hes a Russian" the reason is "cause we cant understand each other and it wont make it easy to ally with that person".

I like to discriminate people of the same nationality as mine, because it's not racism, and it's not xenophobism, because they are not foreign to me.

What about the ghouls and mutants? Who will be their holy saviour? Who will be their protector agianst the base bigotry of man? Is it their fault for being made test subjects or having been exposed to large ammounts of radiation?

Why, dare I say....

is the Wasteland so harsh?

I won't deny that I've found myself several times calling a lot of people "fucking russian shit".

Why all the people who kills me defendless are russians?

Well the drunk finn's also fits like haymaker in the eye, because the finn's are drunkards (im a finn)
Guess we could also rename Finland to Soviet Alcoholica, but enough of that.

Racism, xenophobism and such are always in games and always will be. Even if no one means to offend there
is still always some butthurt humourless "patriot" around ready to clash against the evildoers making fun
of their country/religion and so on.

Also the country vs country exists in almost every game, for example pinoys vs indos was heavy in RFO always
and the polacks vs ruskies here. Whatever country has majority of players always gets the spotlight for the
"ohh they're from THAT country, no wonder then" here it just happens to be russians most heavily and
polacks on good 2nd place from what ive observed so far.

Well it is true that its easy to start blaming whole country once you get killed by the 120th time by a russian for example,
but i also find the country vs country clashes entertaining and think people are just way too serious nowadays.
Doesnt mean those "top hated countries" cant have any nice people playing, ive met some nice russians
and polish people afterall, while i think half of the finns ive met are obviously suffering from brain damage...or then they're drunk.
