Metro 2033 and mod for Fallout 3
« on: April 15, 2010, 07:25:30 pm »

Hiya, anyone of you played Metro 2033? Did you like it? Hate it? Feel free to post your feelings about it here.

Also I was thinking about making Metro 2033 Mod for Fallout 3 via GECK. That mod would be based on Metro 2033 game and book. Because Metro 2033 was short and really linear I would like to make sandbox game, what means it would be nonlinear game with open world - go wherever you want. I would make locations from book/game, so world would be quite big with many hours of gameplay. To make that mod I would need about few months and some texture artists to help me, but I think it would be possible to make it.

It is a great game, with really good atmosphere. (I am nearly at the end).
Those things with the gasmasks and so on are really really cool. Though, the story comes a little short and many things out of the book are left out.

And for Fallout3 Modding: Ugh.

Modeling and texturing Moscow Underground could be a challenge and is a very ambitious project.
Try first a little hommage on journey of Hunter and Ol'Sasha by using original materials. You have tunnels, waggons, radiation suits, assault rifles, children...
If you manage to create a one short episode, people will follow.

I'm not really gonna change graphics or so, I will use that what I have in GECK (tunnels, wagons etc.) :D I was thinking about making new story, but still based on book/game...

Ah yes, don't forget to mention that's a hommage on 2033/34 and a mere test run, or there will be massive amounts of rage from some rash Gluhovsky-loving reviewers.

Metro 2033 was great because of it's linearity. It told a story, had great atmosphere and characters and reminded me a lot of half life but without constantly being alone. Superb game.

It was really good, but lacked a bit of the story. For one, who didn't read the books there are so much things missing..
Also it was too short. But yes, it was an overall good game.

Yeah it definitely made me want to read the book, it's hard to convey political struggles in a videogame.
