This game looks awesome and i really want to play it but when i do it says connecting established,authentication... Also when i try to run updater it gets stuck at faction and dosent do anything.

SELECT SAVE

Try to update yer DirectX.

* Extract contents to your FOnline directory. Overwrite everything.

2. Set up your settings
* Open "FO2238Config.exe" which is located in your FOnline 2238 directory
* Open "DataFiles" tab and locate your "master.dat" and "critter.dat" files.

3. Deleting some file(s)
* Go to your data folder under your FOnline 2238 directory (e.g. E:/Games/FOnline 2238/data/)
* Delete ".cache" files similar to this: "94.23.237.127" or "fonline2238.net". Do NOT delete "default.cache". No means no, don't touch it.
* If you didn't find any of these or just one of these. Delete the ones you found or just continue to the 4. step.

4. And one little thing more
* Check is the server online (http://fo2238.fodev.net/status/)
* Open "FOnline.exe"
* Click "Play". Use the default username and password. Wait, until you get back to the menu.

5. Register and play
* Click "Register" to create a character
* Play the game

This is it, works for me. I hope i helped somebody 

Also does anyone know where/how to mount a torrent? As I have the torrent link file still and I'm hosting the file.

I have just downloaded everything forwarded both 2238 and 4040 ports and when I try to connect it just gives me a loading screen then goes back to the menu.

It says this on the screen in the corner when I return.

* Connecting to server.
* Connection established, authentication...

I have tried running the patcher both in game and from the .exe in the folder, it launches fine but won't connect.

Connecting to the update server...
Can't connect to the update server (94.23.237.127).

This is what it says every time.

The the download link in the thread above does not work either, is their another mirror I can use to get it from?


Edit - Reinstalled it all and now it's telling me i have the wrong version when I start it, however i still can't connect to the update server.

Use the link provided, I have just used it and re-downloaded it. IT DOES WORK!
Also Download the old version First from the link at the top of the forum and then paste/overwrite the new files into the folder.

Something is fucked up as most of the time that first link does not work, when it does I click it and it just takes me to a cannot connect screen.

Strange, I'm not having any problems with it. You have got Fallout 2s Master and Critter files haven't you?

Also I'm making a clean install and will upload that in a few hours.

  And to think I was in the process of modding FNV and trial running it, oh well shame my labtop can't handle more than a few programs at once Really need to get a new desktop

Both downloads work thanks, however now I get a new error saying "datafiles2238.cfg" not found. Run updater.

The updater still won't connect.


I can see the datafiles2238.cfg is in the folder tho so :/
