Bank Network
« on: April 07, 2010, 01:48:40 am »

It might have been already mentioned so sorry if it was.
But I think the banks (FLC) should be connected to each other.
At least now, it gives me option to get a new account in every city with FLC...
It would be quite useful to have account across all FLC banks, so player would be able to deposit money in one city and get it in another.
Maybe you can make network account costs more (1000?) or make deposits and withdrawals cost some additional money if you withdraw/deposit in other town than the one where you have made your account.

Yeah I think it's time to make some account like this. If we're trying to branch out from NCR, the last thing we want to do is carry all our hard-earned money across the wasteland to put it in a different account or to buy something only to be shot down by raiders or pkers. Even charging more to upgrade your account works.

Banks can't just wire transfer money in Fallout. It would need to be transported by caravans. Would you like to lose your bank money because some gang of robbers killed the FLC caravan for money?

Obviously you would not lose the money, since FLC would guarantee you that. It's the same as making players go rob banks...
But yeah, that would make it possible to have random encounter with FLC banker and guards. He/she would have random number of caps on them.

You realize that FOnline devs aim to make the economy closed and not make money magically appear?
If any money is gained from FLC raids, players should lose their money because FLC won't give you it back for nothing.

For nothing? I don't know, but I expect, that they're making some profit (they shouldn't be a sort of charity, really). For example for making new accounts or joint accounts.. they can also speculate with the money, invest them etc. So if they loose some money, it's pretty their problem. They're paid for taking risks instead of clients. This is how it works usually.

Except that there is no stock market to speculate on or invest in. This is a post-apocalyptic world. They earn money because they get word that XYZ, owner of bank account 394 got killed by raiders.
And they don't want to lose money. So they don't make caravans transporting them from town to town. And that's why wired transfers will probably not happen any time soon.
