What about renaming fodev.net at the top side of the page and also everywhere else to something more meaningful, e.g. FOnline Development Center?

Yes, it's nice name and so we have irc channel for it as same name.

OK, but if .net (in name of the forum) is not the domain, then it must have something to do with .NET. :)
If you change the domain name to fodev.com, will also name of the forum be different since then?

No, .net in the name/domain means network (network of fonline developers). I really see no problem here.
