Because of the inverted question marks, Spanish is the only language that uses them. I think he meant to ask if your native language was Spanish (si estás un hispanohablante), not if you were Spanish (nationality). But you're right, it doesn't really matter, just curiosity.

*sos/eres ("sos" in Rioplatense Spanish, "eres" in pretty much any other Spanish variety).
