Interstate 76
« on: May 27, 2013, 06:20:05 pm »

I remember buying the game even before i had my first PC, to be exactly, its prequel, the NitroPack.

2 years later i played it through and spent hours in melee mode and it was my favourite game on LAN parties. I even tried the Mapper which was also hell to handle.
Its soundtrack and cool quotes also immersed me intensely into the Interstate-verse and i liked it more than its spinoff Vigilante 8 or Twisted Metal (in terms of story, TM was fun to melee)

Also, Poem Button FTW.

Did you enjoyed the game as well? I am replaying it right now.

What about interstate 82? s that some sequel? I think I only played that one.

Pretty awesome though, I still had it isntalled just recently. Must have been a lot of fun on LAN, sadly noone wanted to play a game with such "shitty" graphics.

Chronologically, you start with the addon I76 NitroPack, with its "Episodes", then comes the main story of Interstate76. And Interstate 82 is the concluding sequel.

But "shitty" it is not. Its lowpoly.:)

As for I82, i liked its easily moddable textures, very unlike I76, where you had to unpack a ton of proprietary file formats.

Low-poly the best kind of polygon count.

I played this when I was a lot younger on my cousin's PC. It was a good game at its time.

Haters can go play their interactive PS3 movies.

Everyone who is hating on the graphics is a clueless noob.

And to the cutscenes: It's the graphic style. They could have done better models and stuff, even back in the years, but they decided not to.

The only thing I do not like is that there is no widescreen patch.

Besides, the soundtracks is one of the best gaming soundtracks ever done.

This actually looks quite cool, I've played much worse looking games back in the day.
When you said "shitty graphics", I imagined something like this:

Vangers.

Nice. I remember the Mechanics of Ant Cults.

Also, did you know that you could avoid turrets and missiles homing on you in Interstate76 by turning the engine off and roll past? I had shot many turreted creepers by rolling backwards from a hill with engine off. And they weren't clever to do the same, even in Badass mode.
I guess for many people in multiplayer it was a bad surprise to realise that their big-caliber turrets and instakill-Dr.Radar missile phalanxes were useless agains human opponents. ;D
